I own these three:

A Chant of Love and Lamentation
The Beautiful Land - 2012 ABNA Grand Prize Winner (this one is FREE!)
Grace Humiston and the Vanishing

but have yet to read any of them. I'm sort of on a four year quest to find something self-pubbed that I think is as good as something from the publishing houses. I have hope for these books.

Anyone read any of them? And what did you think?

I haven't read any of them, but I picked up The Beautiful Land because it looks very interesting. Thanks for the links.

Hmmm, picked up The Beautiful Land thanks to your notice, but am confused as the Kindle edition indicates 17 pages but the paperback (not yet released) 200+. If this is just a sample, but without indicating so, I'm gonna be ticked. Not cause I have to have something free but I don't like bait & switch.

Anyway, I also picked up the Grace Humiston book - the endorsement by Linda Fairstein who was one of the judges and an author I enjoy, plus a reviewer's comparison to the Lady Julia Gray novels, has me interested.

[So no, haven't read any yet.] ;)

Has anyone read On Little Wings yet?

I just finished The Beautiful Land - 2012 ABNA Grand Prize Winner and am really impressed. The author presents two very scarred characters, and gives some basic background, but leaves you guessing about their history. There seems to be some intrigue involved as well (with the main character), but the book cuts off at the point where you really are interested in knowing about the specifics of this intrigue.

Thanks for this post Scottbooks, I would never have picked up this book, or even known about it, without your post. I hope this new author does well, because the sample of the book I read, was quite impressive. :)
