So yesterday i asked Amazon to update all my Kindle books to their newest versions, and the Hunger Games wasn't one of the books updated. I thought this was weird since i just bought the second book from Kobo and noticed that it looked different. So i went and checked the Kindle sample on and sure enough it was the same as Kobo's. So i asked Amazon to update the hunger games and they said it updated to the latest versions.

An idea hit me. Maybe the publisher removed the book from Amazon, then added back the new version instead. So when the Amazon customer service representative went to check from the latest version of my book, they found it to be the latest versions of my book, since the new Hunger Games book might considered a new book altogether in Amazon's database. So i asked Amazon to remove the book from my account and refund me so i can buy it back from Amazon.

Lo and behold it worked. I got the newest version of the book. The one shown in the sample and the one similar to other ebook sites like Kobo. Here is an example of the differences:

So, In conclusion, this is something that needs to be seriously streamlined. Who knows how many books other people have that need updating but never will? Or how many i have that need updated like that? I also might be one of the few people who never gets an email telling them a book updating is available, as i've never received one.

I tried to update another book in the same manner, The Giver, but the person from Amazon said this was a one time exception. I was in a hurry so i just got off the chat, but i will definitely be contacting Amazon again. That can't be a one time exception. I did nothing wrong for it to be a one time exception. Just a bit of warning/advice to everyone. Check samples of books if you think there should be a newer version then the one you have.

I was wondering, for example, what happened to the TOR ebooks (which now have no DRM). I haven't received an update for the TOR ebooks I have...
