Listen all! This is the truth of it.

Writing leads to promoting and promoting leads to warring.
And that was damn near the death of us all. Look at us now! Busted up, and everyone tellin' demselves that they ain't doing nothing wrong.

But we've learned, by the dust of them all... AmaDome learned. Now, when writer's get to writing, it happens here! And it finishes here!

Two writers enter; one writer leaves.

Welcome to AMAZONDOME 2012! ARENA IV

Our fourth match features two gladiators who have no idea what they're getting into. Innocents to the cruel world of the forums, but ready to test their mettle. Both have been fitted with special iron masks and will be fighting blind. Bet you are regretting those front row seats now :).

Their name's will be revealed only after the crowd stops yelling and the ink dries.

The genre that the gladiators will be fighting in.... SCI-FI!!

Word count: Between 500 and 1,000.

Due Date: November 19.

Stay tuned for the big match. Once both stories are posted, everyone who's anyone will get to vote.

Until then, feel free to place bets, discuss odds, talk smack and buy something.

In AmaDome, no one can hear you scream. So write it down!

Two writers enter. One writer leaves.

There can be only ONE!

Why do you guys encourage him? His ego is certainly big enough already that he needs no help.

Oh please don't!

Why do I encourage him?
First off, I can encourage whomever I please with no explanation to anyone.
Secondly, he is putting together these author gladiator contests and I am enjoying them. I enjoy short fiction and I am finding that there are many here who can write and write well.
I could care less about Splinker's ego. I think he's doing a nice job here, giving exposure to other authors and I'm sure it must be a bit of work on his part.
Why are you in here if you're not interested?

I'm with you Charlene. I am really enjoying these contests. No negativity, no insults, no drama, just good fun for everyone. It's one of the best ideas I've seen on the forums since I began particpating here.
If I had a bit more courage, I'd enter. But I don't... so I'll sit back & enjoy the show. : )

I think you should, Lil Devil! What do you have to lose?
No one will attack you if they don't like your offering.
Everyone has been very positive about all of the entries and I'm sure your entry would be no exception. : )

>>> What do you have to lose? <<<

My feathers? Yep, I'm chicken.
Yet another reason I admire writers. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there for the public to judge.

Hey Splink, is it the 19th yet? Is it almost here? I can't wait that long. Is there a restroom somewhere? I really gotta go. Oww, scoot over Charlene, get your elbow out of my rib. I'm thirsty.

Due to an email snafu, one of the gladiators has been given a few more days to submit their story. Apologies to the rabid fans.

Being as you're the Host of this here party, I'd say it's up to you to entertain the masses while we wait. Or you just may have a riot on your hands.
A game perhaps? Karaoke? Pole dancing? Riddles? Trivia? Another sort of challenge?

Here, I'll help:

What famous writer is as passionate about music as he/she is writing? He/She is a member of a band called "The Rock Bottom Remainders" which also includes Dave Barry.
******************
Whoever answers the question has to come up with something of their own to entertain. And no fair cheating, no googling.

Stephen King.

I don't think we should stand for this delay. I came here to be entertained, not TO entertain.
She said because she couldn't think of anything good to ask. : )

Correct answer!!! Nice going Charlene. I'm afraid you forfeit your prize because you didn't help stall... I mean keep the entertainment going.

Here's another one:

What famous female writer was the 1st woman registered to vote in Concord, New Hampshire?
