RE: XFinity App for Amazon Kindle Fire

Just got my Kindle Fire and tried to download the XFinity app (Android tablet app) and I keep getting the msg: "Could not find that app in the Amazon Appstore for Android at this time" . I get this same msg no matter what site I use to try and downoad the app (i.e., etc)

Are their any plans to offer this app for the Amazon Kindle Fire????

I agree. Amazon if you are listening, please get this app in your store sooner than later. Thank you.

I fully agree. I would be very happy to be able to have this app for my Fire.

You can use the Fire's built in feedback option to tell Amazon. Go to the top where the settings are, click on More and the first item in the list is Help & Feedback. Then the feedback form is the 3rd tab.

I thought I would be able to access my comcast xfinity cable tv with the kindle fire but when I try to download the xfinity TV app it says it can't be found in the amazon app store. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Hello Rosemary,

We're constantly adding apps to our Appstore selection, and apps unavailable now may become available in the future.

To browse some of our favorite apps and games for Kindle Fire on the web, visit:

You can also limit your Appstore search results to apps available on Kindle Fire by clicking the "Available on Kindle Fire" check-box located in the left navigation pane.

If you'd like to request a certain app be made available on Kindle Fire, you can submit feedback from your device to our technical team by tapping Apps from the Home screen, pressing the Menu icon and selecting "More." Tap "Leave Feedback" and enter the name of the app you're interested in.

I hope this helps!

Best Regards,

Shannon A.

Shannon, et al there is no "menu" icon to press after you tap Apps from the Home screen. There are only "search", "back" and "home" icons. You must go to the store, then hit menu and select more, feedback etc.

I am not an official from Comcast (I don't even know anyone working from them), but I was over their Forum and in two different sections, representatives did mention (one on 01/06/2012 and the other on 01/08/2012) that they were coming with an XfinityTV app for the Fire soon.

Thanks for sharing that, lily!

That's key: it's generally going to be up to the owner of the app to put it in the Kindle store or not. If there is an app you want which isn't in the store, contact the app maker (Xfinity, in this case). Amazon can't put it in the store without their action.

There are also presumably cases where Amazon doesn't approve an app...I doubt an Xfinity app would fail those sorts of tests.

me too, we want to buy 4 of them, but we need the xfinity app!!!

Michelle - Contact Xfinity (Comcast) and tell them you would like this app. Amazon cannot offer something if it is not provided to them.

The request to COMCAST has already been made. We have been in a waiting game since Nov 23 2011. See the following Comcast forum. Please add your input -- perhaps if they see more and more folks have an interest in the app, maybe they will be "encouraged" to make some progress and offer it.

I too have Comcast Xfinity and can't locate it on the Amazon apps. Bear in mind that many people who have other cable services, such as Verizon FIOS, already have the app on their kindle fire hd. So I know this issue can't be blamed on Amazon. It's frustrating to pay for a service and not have my cable company deliver. We need to put more pressure on Comcast to create a compatible app.

So, has anyone found out how to get the Xfinity TV app to the Kindle fire? It's not listed in the store while searching via the Fire.

A post said to switch to mobile view mode when on comcast site then change setting back when off site - what a pain. Come on Comcast!!!!

The directions you give for leave feedback is not for all Kindle Fires. Anyhow, I would like to have an app created for the 1st Generation Kindle Fires to download the Xfinity Tv App. I see no reason to buy a newer Fire when nothing is wrong with mine. All apps should be created with this in mind, not everyone can update when newer versions of the tablet come out, too expensive, and if nothing is wrong with the old why change but updates and apps should be for everyone whose purchased a Kindle Fire past and future. Thank you.

That sounds good. It would be nice to be able to utilize Xfinity app and Lumiya on the Kindle Fire HD. I am missing a lot of fun time on my Kindle that I could have had using a different tablet. Don't get me wrong. I love the Kindle but it needs to be able to use the Android apps as well.

Comcast told me you need to download Google Play to get the app. I couldn't figure that out either, maybe you can. Good Luck!!
