Can you watch AVI files on the new Kindle Fire?
(The list of video formats listed in the description seemed a bit short)

I'd expect the list to be literal and accurate: WAV, MP4, VP8. I never heard of this last one and don't know if it's a video format. So AVI and .mov are not included. I guess it would not work for any of the videos any of my cameras take. But then, it's not a computer with separate applications to play our own content. I have no idea whether you can buy apps for it that would overcome such obstacles.

I would like to assume that file-playing apps will be available for download, but at the very least some hacker will develop apps for playing such eventually.
By the way, WAV is a sound format, and as for VP8, here is a wiki link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VP8
It is an odd video format I've never heard mentioned but was released by Google so it should be pretty good.

Also from the list it seems that Mpeg4 (MP4 is video) won't be supported even though AAC, OGG, WAV, MP3, etc are...
But I am surprised that AVI is not on the list, unless it's considered under MP4. But my knowledge about such is still a little spotty.

I added an AVI to my Kindle Fire and it does not recognize it.

Is this why I am unable to see highlight videos on NFL.com?

Sad that WMV files that play fine on my Android-powered DroidX will not play on my Android-powered Kindle Fire.... Confusing, too.

Downloaded concert video I took and the Kindle Fire will not play it (AVI and other)? Any suggestions?? Do I need to download an app to play videos?
