Juliette Low says:
Are you sure it dosen't take pictures because there is a little circle thing in the left top corner

That is a non-functioning light sensor.

What is that?

The Artist says:
If it was working, the screen would adjust brightness based on the ambient light in your location. It's non-functioning right now, though.

Ummm, the little circle thingy is on the same side as the screen. You could take self-portraits or if you're flexible enough, take pictures over your shoulder or down at your toes.

Stephen, what are you talking about?

There is no camera on the Fire tablet!

I was just trying to point out how ridiculous it is to assume that the mystery spot is a camera being on the same side of the device as the screen.

Not if you are a Skype user!

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 26, 2011 6:08:34 PM PST
yes it does it even has an app called gallery and u just need to get the right app to take pics

Posted on Dec 26, 2011 6:10:00 PM PST
You get a CAMERA to take the pictures and copy them to the Fire and view them in the Gallery app. The Fire doesn't have a camera.

But NO CAMERA! It will hold photos but not able to take them. No big deal unless you use Skype.

I need to know if there is an app that can be downloaded so that you can take pictures on the kindle fire....I completely understand that it does not come with a camera and that you can upload pictures onto it but i need to know if there is ever any way that i can download an app that will enable me to take pictures.

Kerry - no. An app will not add a camera function to the Fire. There is no camera, period.

I took a picture using the Kindle Fire. I saw this guy looking at a picture. I walked over to him, hit him in the head with my Kindle, knocked him out and took his picture from him. So yes, you can use the Kindle to take pictures.
