I have the kindle book "adobe Dreamweaver CS6 Revealed, 1st edition" which works sometimes in Kindle for PC. However, when I try to open the book in using the Windows 8 Kindle app I get this message "this title is not available on kindle for windows 8". Is anyone experiencing this? I am using Windows 8 Prof.

It would be nice if Amazon could fix this soon... I just payed $50 for textbooks that I can't read effectively on my win8 machine. the PC version is not very compatible with win8 and especially a touch screen device.

You guys should all try downloading Kindle for PC and then delivering your textbooks there. It'll work even if you're running Windows 8 since I had the same problem you all just described. It doesn't work on the app but it should work for Kindle for PC. Google that and do the download and try it then.

Even with doing that it sends you to download the app, and the app itself doesn't want to download from the cloud

If someone posted a solution it would be appreciated...

Hey, So this is the solution I used.

For Windows 8, there seems to be 2 way for programs to be installed. As an APP, or as ... a program? I'm not sure what to call the second kind. But the point is, the APP did not seem to be able to download my newest purchase. So I went to the link for Amazon's Kindle link, and downloaded and installed that, and it worked. The download did say the program was only for windows 7 but it installed and worked fine.

So, what is this link? well, this wouldn't be helpful without that would it?

So for clarification, the point is to download the "Kindle for PC", instead of the "Windows 8 Kindle App".

Happy Reading!

Thank you for posting this, as it helped me! I would have never thought of this and it worked.

Yes, using K4PC works, but that's not the point. WHY can't I read the book on the Win8 app? K4PC is, understandably, not nearly as user friendly on a touchscreen.

I also have a tablet, surface 2, that I would like to use rather than a laptop or book. Windows 8.1 RT cannot install .exe files. It would be nice to be able to sync a eTextbook to the app on my tablet. But for some crazy reason I can sync it with my windows phone. unfortunately I think the ebook would be pretty worthless on a 4.5" screen. For now, this sucks. Hopefully by next semester I can sync with my tablet

So if I have a Surface RT I am out of luck? This needs to get fixed. Is there a solution that involves the app to view the book I bought?

I had this problem and I uninstalled the Kindle App and then reinstalled it. After reinstalling it I was finally able to view the book I had purchased.

I don't believe this is happening. What does it mean this title is not available for Windows ? Have they warned us before accepting our money that this title would not be available for WIndows 8? I don't remember any notion of that. They should be ashamed.
