I was very excited about subscribing electronically to the magazines on the Kindle. Beautiful photos, so easy to read, don't take up space at home. Only problem...........you don't own the magazine files, they are stored in the Amazon servers and will get deleted periodically unless you tell them not to. I would never spend money on something I cannot own. Another problem is that you can't read the magazines on the PC Kindle program.

This has to be a decision of the publishers in an apparent attempt to protect or increase profits while reducing services. Many magazines work on iPad but not Android. The only reason I can think of for doing this because Apple pays or has some agreement with the publisher to block Android access. What other reason could there be?

Another ugly trend I am seeing is auto-renewal. Bad trend.

This is why I cancelled all my kindle magazine subscriptions.

I wanted to read some of the nebula nominated stories that I had bought over the previous year, and discovered that despite the fact that I bought the issues, Amazon had thrown them out, and that unlike books they could not be downloaded again, except for the last few issues. Scum.

I won't buy another magazine from Amazon.

You don't own e-books, either. You own a license to access the book, which can be revoked at will by the publisher. (Rarely happens, but it *has* happened.)
