Amberle says:
For the first time since April 2008 I will be leaving my house without my kindle. I'll have to read a paperback instead.

Elbereth broke on me last night, but thanks to the wonderful people at Amazon, I'll have a new one by tomorrow or Friday!

Goodbye, sweet Elbereth! You were my shining star of reading!

Farewell, Elbereth! May you rest in peace.
Amberle, here's hoping that it arrives tomorrow.

You should place Elbereth face up in an ornate, Elvish canoe and send him over a waterfall.

So very sad. Long live Elbereth in your heart.

Bridget Ruth says:
And now you can spoil the newcomer with a pretty Oberon cover.

Yes, I am spending your money because I can't afford one and they're just so pretty that I've been drooling over the website for the past hour or so.

Amberle says:
Oh, how I wish I could afford an Oberon cover, too, but the new, and unnamed Kindle (suggestions anyone?) will have to go into Elbereth's old cover. I'm sure she won't mind.

So sad. My deepest sympathies. Glad you are getting your new one soon. Kessa

My new (replacement) Kindle should be here by Friday, Oct. 28! Case cracked. Not enough good things can be said for KCS. Wow.

I like Elendil. Of course, that's a boy's name. Is your new Kindle a boy or a girl? ;)

Amberle says:
My first two kindles were girls, so maybe it's time to have a boy. I like Elendil, although suggestions of names from stories other LotR are welcome. I'll try to decide before my new baby arrives!

I once had a turtle named Fartspray.

Posted on Oct 26, 2011 3:20:19 PM PDT
Amberle says:
Now that's a name I would use for a turtle (or my younger brother), but I'm not sure it's appropriate for a Kindle. :-)

Omg. Get a life people. Is your Kindle a boy or a girl? Really??? I need to lay down on bertram the couch now...

Willow says:
Well la te da Brad Sizemore. Why must you always post negatives? I like the naming of Kindles and so do others. If you don't then don't name yours.

As for what to name your new kindle, Amberle, I would go with Ishmael for a boy, and Hermoinie for a girl.

I think he was making a subtle joke. I almost missed it, too.

"I need to lay down on bertram the couch now..."

He should have capitalized Bertram so we'd know it's what he named his couch.

Amberle says:
Thanks, but Ishmael is not a name I'm fond of--I hate Moby Dick. I also hate anything by Henry James. And I really, really hate The Great Gatsby, so I definitely be using any names from them.
