Just received my Paperwhite. Near the bottom of the screen, the right-most of the four LEDs (hidden behind the bezel) is casting a yellowish haze as opposed to the normal bluish white. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

Almost afraid to call Amazon about a replacement (because of the current supply issues) - does anyone know if they normally have reserves of replacement units on standby for these launches?

Early adopter woes, I guess.

Won't know until you call. More than likely they have some set aside for warranty returns.

I have some similarly discolored areas as well. I'm hoping that it is an issue similar to the iPhone had where there is still glue drying in between the screens because it was manufactured so recently. IF that is the case, it goes away in a couple days... at least it did for the iPhones.

Good call! Forgot about that mess. I'll give it a few days to dry before calling, I guess.

Here is what I have - orange/blue tint.

Probably a bit enforced in the photo.

That's exactly the same issue I have.

The tinting is probably some sort of prismatic or refractive event.

Alright, I'll throw in an image, for science:

The yellow tint is visible from all angles. It is very present.

Otherwise, the Paperwhite is pretty great.

For all of you having these discoloration issues, contact Kindle Customer Service immediately and ask about a possible replacement. Click on "Help" at the top of this page, and then "Contact Us" on the right of the help page.

I'm giving it a couple days before I do that in the event it's simply glue or lamination drying. If it remains then, I will contact them.

Thank you. I was starting to get concerned, but that's certainly a flaw I think I can handle.

I have a slightly reddish area in the upper right corner, I find it a little distracting while reading. I'll see if it goes away, otherwise I'll be contacting Amazon for a replacement.

Just an update: after a day, the discoloration has not changed at all - Amazon is sending me a new one, but replacements are back-ordered until Oct 18th or later. Get your replacement requests in sooner rather than later!

They told me my replacement would come in late October but then I got an email saying that I'm going to get it on the eighth. Amazon takes care of you, bro.

Same here, but now I just got notice that my replacement has shipped and will be here Friday.

Man, I just got another Email that says I'm getting on on the 5th. I love Amazon.

My KPW looks very similar to the picture that Stoyan Dimitrov posted. I don't know if I am imagining things, but my screen seems to be getting worse, rather than better the more I use it. When I first noticed the discoloration, the areas seemed smaller than they are now.

I just got off the phone with Amazon CS and they are sending me a replacement, but she said that it will not ship right away because of short supplies. Estimated delivery date of replacement is Oct 17.

I will also get a replacement - estimated delivery date of replacement is Oct 17 - 29.

Hopefully everyone will get a good copy. Probably majority of the KWP are fine. I will report here about mine when I get it.

I called Amazon and a replacement is on its way...They were really good about it

Ordered two kindles on the same day. One was delayed a week for some reason. Not sure if it came from a different manufacturing plant, but comparing the two screens, the one that was delayed has a yellowish tint and the other is truly the paperwhite color I would expect. We called Amazon and they are sending out another one.

Received our Kindle replacement today...another yellow haze screen. Out of the three received, only one truly has a white screen. I think Amazon has some QA issues. Will try getting a replacement one more time. If it has the same yellow haze, I'm waiting until they get the production issues fixed.

I've had 4 Paperwhites. I really tried to like all of them. I even read 67% of Moby Dick on one but I could not ignore the red and green blotches, hard as I tried. I guess Amazon is really trying to bring back the "Reading Rainbow."

Received 2 directly from Amazon, one from Best Buy, and lastly one from Staples. All Colorful blotches.

I just ordered a Kobo Glo instead.

Similar to Chris, I had three paperwhites but could not ignore the green blotches all over them. So disappointing. I'm hopeful that the next generation will be better.
