Oh man Apple put out a new Ipad today and I have only had mine since April, I think I should let them know how could they do that. I want a new updated Ipad and not have to pay for it. LOL

Thank you! this is great. This was the only thing keeping us from buying a dedicated Fire for our children.

I'm SO JEALOUS. (congrats =)

Incidentally I saw on a tech news site (can't remember which) that the FreeTime update is rolling out on the HD. Can anyone confirm, or was that a rumour?

M. Phelps says:
Engadget posted an article, but the link was to the 7.5.1 update, which has been out for a while, and isn't the Free Time, et. al. update.

Will Kindle Fire HD 7" 32GB be available in Ireland soon and from U.S. or U.K.?

In reply to an earlier post on Oct 24, 2012 9:32:17 AM PDT
Have they started shipping all Kindle HD 8.9" 32GB's?

CBRetriever says:
so far they've just been sold from a Kindle Store in a country

Liamo says:
I bought my original Kindle from Amazon.com U.S. U.K. say that Fire is released there tomorrow. There is no Amazon Ireland so that is why I was wondering if Fire would be available here from tomorrow.

CBRetriever says:
the problem is that amazon.co.uk won't ship them outside the UK just like amazon.com won't ship them outside the US

and apps won't be available to you from the UK unless you have a credit card with a UK billing address (credit cards are required to buy apps) and it's likely that streaming media will only be available inside the UK (US residents can't stream or purchase it outside the US)

Liamo says:
Thank you. I think I will now give up and just stick with my old Kindle and my iPad.

wondering if the original kindle fire will receive any new updates?

In reply to an earlier post on Oct 24, 2012 11:34:16 AM PDT
I would like to know the same thing!

In reply to an earlier post on Oct 24, 2012 11:36:24 AM PDT
Amazon has not announced any updates to the original Fire, but they haven't said there won't be any. They have said they will continue to support the original Fire, but there are no specifics about what that may mean. You'll just have to wait for announcements from Amazon like the rest of us.

When will this Kindle 7" HD be able to support "Flash" platforms. Many newspapers and other programs require "Flash" capability. What can we expect?

When could we expect Kindle 7" HD to support "Flash" platforms. Many local newspaPERS PROVIDE FOR "e" editions and the Kindle does not.
What and/or when can we expect this to be provided?

You can expect that NO MOBILE DEVICE RUNNING ANDROID 4.0 OR LATER WILL EVER SUPPORT "FLASH."

How 'bout upgrading the Android version in the KFHD to at least 3.0 so a keyboard can be used with it?

In reply to an earlier post on Oct 24, 2012 4:31:21 PM PDT
@Beverly: The KF HD runs Android 4, so a Bluetooth keyboard can work with it. My kaiser baas keyboard does.

BB, yes, you can take pictures with the camera. I've done that, and gotten some nice quality ones.

It's a bit odd to take pictures with the front-facing camera...I tell people it's like learning to brush your hair in the mirror. :) I also took a nice panorama: that's built into the app.

You need to access it with another app, but there are several free apps that work with it.
