Kindle Fire, Full Color 7" Multi-touch Display, Wi-Fi

I don't understand why any company would use FedEx SmartPost except to save a dime. I buy a lot from Woot and it takes Smartpost two weeks to get to the West Coast of FL from Texas. Now they have lost my Kindle Fire. I live 90 miles South East of Orlando, Fl and SmartPost scanned my Fire as being at my local Post Office on Wed. But they returned it to Orlando only to ship it back out at 5PM on Thursday. Now they don't seem to know where it is. I'd rather pay for shipping and have UPS handle it. It sucks to read all the reviews on the Fire and wonder when I will receive mine. Amazon says that if I don't get it by next Thursday, they will ship ne another one, I just hope the don't ship it by FedEx.

Definitely slow boat to China with Smartpost. My Fire left Kentucky on the 14th, and I was able to go to my PO yesterday and pick the package up myself, because I wasn't going to be home today when my mail went.

The lighted cover for our Basic Kindle left Phoenix yesterday afternoon, and it's not expected to arrive here until the 29th. I'm in Ohio. Having Prime is going to be really nice.

Greg, stop being a troll. If you were too lazy to read the product page and do your research before you bought, you have no right to complain. In addition, pitching a tantrum because you can't delete Facebook is petty and childish.

To be honest Amazon did say I would get my Fire on the 17th, and it did come on the 17th. So I really can't fault them.

Amelio--I am having trouble with Smartpost. I, too, live in Ohio. My KF had been sitting in Grove City for over 24 hours after also coming from KY. The estimated arrival date was today (18th) with USPS. Grove City is only 100 miles from my home! I couldn't understand why each time I checked tracking, there was no change! I finally contacted CS, and all they told me was that FedEx was now telling them that the estimated date had been changed to the 22nd! Hmmm...nothing like that was showing on my tracking page. When I checked just a few minutes ago, it said that it has now left. I wonder if it is because I called CS. Now I wonder who is going to deliver it and when--USPS or FedEx? FedEx doesn't deliver on weekends, but USPS does if they are able to get it down here by morning. I hate being so impatient, but Amazon drummed up all the excitement about the KF!

It is pretty simple. If you want fast delivery pay for it. If you choose super saver shipping you get what you pay for. I personally use super saver most of the time and expect delays because of it.

It's not a matter of fast shipping to me. My Fire arrived in Orlando, which is only 90 miles from me on Tuesday. They show it arriving at my local Post Office the next day. Then they show it being shipped back to Orlando. WTF? Now they don't know where it is. If they told me it wasn't going to be here until next week, that's one thing, but to be 6 blocks from my house, then sent 90 miles back? No excuse. We do not have delivery to our homes in my town. We have to go to the Post Office to pick up our mail. The Post office is only open 20 hours a week, and not at all on Saturdays.

Sounds like you are lucky they don't deliver using Pony Express. :)

Pony Express would be faster! They could go 2000 miles in ten days. I've had package have to go only a few hundred miles take a week, and that's with the "advantages" of computerized routing, computerized tracking, GPS, and engine-powered vehicles of various sizes, all of them capable of speeds much greater than a pony ridden by a runty kid.

Maybe in the olden days they could. I doubt there are enough horses alive today with enough stamina to make that trip...hehe.

I won't buy anything from WOOT! If they show it is being shipped Smartpost. I bought an item that went from Texas, to Washington state, back to Texas, to Wisconsin, to North Dakota, to Missouri, back to Texas, back to Missouri and then sat in the post office for 3 days. Total time to get my item? 18 days. Never again.

The routing for Smartpost packages is so stupid, it makes it looks as though it's entirely random. "Oh, this truck is leaving, let's toss it on there."

I know how y'all feel. I paid for standard shipping and it went by SmartPost. It showed up today - finally - and I absolutely LOVE it. I think of it as an oversized smart phone with enhancements. Give it a chance and you'll love it too. Good luck with SmartPost. I don't understand why it so slow.

Latest info from Amazon tracking. Unbelievable. It was estimated to be here on the 17th. It's been going back and forth from Orlando since the 15th. That's only 90 miles away.

No wonder the Post Office is losing money if this is the way they waste their resources shuttling stuff back and forth uselessly.

Does anyone else remember the days when a letter mailed in the afternoon to an address in your own city would be delivered the following morning? Those were the days!

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 19, 2011 11:40:05 AM PST
I can't blame the Post Office for this, It's FedEx Smartpost that is doing all the shuttling back and forth. FedEx delivers the package to the local Post Office, then the Post Office delivers it. They can't deliver it if FedEx doesn't hand it over. They should change the name to FedUp.

I have to agree that SmartPost terrible. My Kindle Fire shipped out of Phoenix, AZ on 11/16. Now mind you I live in New York so that alone seems odd, I've never had anything I ordered from Amazon go out from AZ there are many, many closer warehouses. Now 3 days later my Fire is in Los Angeles, CA?!? Three days in transit and it is 370 miles further west?? I'm so confused, and frustrated.

I hate that the estimated delivery dates keep changing also. The Fire was ordered by my brother as a gift, so while I personally try to never ever use Free Super Saver he didn't know any better. When he first "pre-ordered" back in October, they said approx delivery 7 days after release. After it shipped they changed the estimated delivery to 11/28 which is a whopping 13 days after release. Now since FedEx is trucking it west, not east, they've pushed it back to 12/1. It's just ridiculous.
