Perhaps someone has had the same problem as me and can help before I contact Amazon?

I can't help you with your question, but I sure like your response to Fud. He's rude to everyone. I wish he'd see what you wrote, but he won't. He posts and runs, never to return to the same discussion.

N. Hall says:
Try connecting in the other USB port on the MacBook Pro. Try another USB cord if you have one. Shutdown your MacBook Pro and restart. If using Lion, you may need to go to finder preferences and tell it to show external drives.

These are all common things I try at school when a student has difficulty getting an external device to be recognized and usually one will work.

ME to TN says:
I have this same issue and have tried all the steps N. Hall has suggested. Another thread had this same complaint and found that it was another app on his computer that was preventing his computer from recognizing the Kindle as a device. Sorry I can't help, as I'm still trying to figure this issue out myself.

On edit: When I connected my KF to macbook with USB, this dialog box came up say some computers require a free-file transfer. It gives a This takes you to a page at Amazon that states 2nd Gen Kindle Fire needs this free transfer app for Mac users only. I downloaded it, but still don't see that my "Finder" is recognizing that I have the Kindle as an attached device.--
On Second Edit: I went to my application folder and clicked on the Android file icon and it opened a window that appears to be all the folders on my Kindle Fire. It still doesn't show as a device on my "Finder", but at least this way I can get to my Kindle files if I need to.

Is there no answer to this question of how to get the Kindle Fire to show up in the Finder?

I bought a book with a video enhancement for my Kindle Fire. I didn't realize it was a 1st generation Kindle and the video won't play. Is there any way I can watch it on my computer?

I got the android app and tried adding some audiobooks from itunes but I can't find them anywhere on my kindle. This should be way more simple than it is but I guess not every device is like an Ipod.

Beth M Roe says:
After the kindle is connected via USB slide the yellow bar on your kindle, the screen will say "You can now transfer files from your computer to Kindle." The device will show up in Finder under SDCARD.

I have the same problem. Amazon kindle support sent me the link to download the android transfer, and on the Mac Pro I can see the files but not the device, and on my desktop mac 10.5X nothing works. When the android transfer is open you do not see the kindle files (books, doc etc).
Any new idea?
