Mobile read forum is a good place for information about ebooks and reader of all kinds. They are pretty strict though.

1. Discuss Things Politely
Our members have developed a strong, constructive online community. To help maintain this friendly, supportive atmosphere, we ask that you follow these standards of politeness.

MobileRead is intended to be a family-safe and work-safe website. Please post accordingly.

Do attempt to state your point of view in a way that avoids misunderstanding. Remember that we are an international community and not all members are posting in their first language.

When things get controversial please disagree with the opinion, not the person.

Try to be sensitive to others when you post, and tolerant of others when you read their posts.

A rude comment is still rude, even if you follow it with a smiley, "just kidding" or "I'm only joking" or "This is meant to be humorous."

Deliberately provoking other members is prohibited. Members who post provocative or inflammatory posts will be warned. Persistent offenders may be banned.

Name calling is not permitted, even in the form of a question, e.g. "X's posts make me wonder how much he believes what he's saying, or if he's just a troll."

MobileRead reserves the right to limit discussion that is outside the realm of good taste, or uses foul or hateful language. We won't tolerate any form of hate-speech.

Remember that you can use the "ignore" function to ignore a member whose posts irritate you, but you must not announce in open forum that you have done so.

2. Staying on Topic
Threads have a life of their own and may stray in all sorts of directions. However, if the original poster, or a moderator, requests that a thread stay on topic then please respect their wishes. You could start a thread of your own about the new topic, if you want. If a thread moves to parallel discussion of two separate topics then you may also request a moderator to move posts related to a new topic to their own thread with the "Report Posts" function.

3. Duplication
Do not post the same discussion in more than one forum. Try to pick the most relevant forum for your post.

If it's been a few days since the last comment in your thread and you haven't received a suitable answer to your question, you may bump your thread by commenting in it. You must not ask the same question in a new thread in the same forum.

If you receive no replies, and you think you may have chosen the wrong forum, report your post and ask the moderators to move it to the right forum.

4. Quotation
Please do not misrepresent someone else's views when involved in a discussion. When quoting, feel free to quote a section, rather than the whole post.

Did you post Amazon's TOS over there too?

No it's just a different and interesting atmospere. A lot more technical sometimes than other forums also. It's a good place to check out if you prefer moderated forums and I often find links to articles about ebooks and publishing that aren't posted anywhere else.

GreyDay, I would like if Amazon enforced the posting Guidelines on this Forum.

Customers click on the Kindle Discussions link and think this is a safe place to ask questions only to be met by our resident group who hang out here all day, every day just waiting for an opening to harass and/or embarrass other posters.

I think that Amazon should either enforce the Guidelines on this forum or change the link to the Customer Service forum or the Kindle Help forum.

Since you posted their TOS here, post the one from Amazon there. It's only fair.

Why would they think that? Amazon has a big warning that it is a customer discussion...

This is the Internet - why would anybody think they are safe?

Of course no one EVER comes here and starts a post ranting, cussing Amazon and acting entitled. NEVER!

/end sarcasm

In addition; what kind of danger is anyone being put in that would require calling this place "unsafe"?

Has anyone ever been electrocuted while posting here? I know there have been times when I WISH I could have pushed a button and zapped another poster. Alas, that feature has yet to be added to the Interwebs.

That is a mean thing to say. I don't know how you can impugn motive on someone you have not even met.

Amazon has other things to do aside from moderating a forum. Amz likes to create a market and allow others to fill the need - e.g. mobilereads, ereaderiq, etc.

Since you know an unmoderated forum bothers you and you know this is an unmoderated forum, I am bewildered why you post here.

Nope. Never happens.

As with most situations in life, you get what you give. These forums are no exception.

But many of us dream of the day we can do that via the interwebs...or at least slap people.

Well, okay, but first I must ask a point of clarification on your post. I had been led to believe it is the interwebz that cause all these problems yet you typed interwebs.

"they are strict over on Mobilread."

And they're not as strict here. And?

Once upon a time one could have just said "and they're not strict here" but that's no longer true. They now let the trolls do what they like and censor most everyone else. Go figure.

I bet someone somewhere is plotting their design for such a device so they can rid the world of certain people who click on certain web sites.

Can we hook it up to parental controls?

I figured out a few years ago that we need a device to attach to teenagers that would shock them when they had prolonged contact with other humans, were around alcohol or drugs, were driving too fast or went out of a designated area.

I love it!

My vision is for their Mom's voice to come in loud & clear on their cell phones saying, "I can see you, put it back where it belongs, or I will be here watching you."

PTSD every time they ever tried to have sex again - through the rest of their life. LOL!
