Lynn McNamee says:
Please post here your Kindle Limerick
Getting it to rhyme is quite a trick
But, if you love to read
It's a Kindle you need
A better reader you couldn't pick.

Here is one co-authored by myself & Silver:

A Kindle there was from Nantucket
Carried books like the drops in a bucket
I took it out to read
Whenever I would need
When done, in my purse I would tuck it.

And, here is an older one I wrote:

I once took my Kindle to a store
That sold Paper books, mags and more;
I got funny looks
When I downloaded books
And, empty-handed, walked out the door.

And the original version of the one Red has put his own twist on. I'm afraid I can't track down any of the other Kindle limericks I've posted, but I can always make up new ones.

A Kindle there was from Nantucket
Carried books like the drops in a bucket
Like the number, I mean
But with this rhythm scheme
I have yet to explain to explain the Nantucket... oh drat it!

Silver says:
One cannot write a limerick on Kindle
Though with that fact I know that a friend'll
Argue that we do here
Missed the point there, I fear
Tis the act, not the subject, I render

Lynn McNamee says:
Whoops, sorry, Silver, I hope I didn't offend. I should have posted your original, I just wasn't certain that it would be appropriate outside of the context.

Btw, Redadept = "she" or "her" ...not that it matters....well, to anyone on here, anyway....lol

In trying to begin a new thread
I realized it all had been said
So, to waste some more time
I will put it in rhyme
Although, too much puts aches in my head.

There once was a man from Hoboken
Who wanted to read up on Tolkien.
Though his ex took those tomes
When she stormed from their home
It's a good thing his Kindle weren't broken!

For a related thread, here's the Kindle Haiku one:

My books were once all made of paper
But now they are much more like vapor
They fly through the air
From I don't know from where
I'm so happy I prance and I caper

----

Your Kindle may soon change your life
If you have a husband or wife
You'll just sit there and read
And pay them no heed
Which can lead to more marital strife

:)

Matt couldn't decide on a cover
So he asked some advice from his lover
"What is THIS toy?" asked she,
So he demo-ed with glee...
Now his Kindle belongs to another

Lynn McNamee says:
I wish I had been a Kindle Kid
I would have read much more than I did
But, alas, I'm so aged
My books were paper-paged
And, the covers could never be hid.

Lynn McNamee says:
Oh, man, you guys are GOOD!

Matt - So funny ....hard not to laugh out loud (I'm at work, in an accounting office, laughing out loud is frowned on)

Bufo - Loved your second one best.

Oh the closing of Borders was sad
For no other bookstore they had
But when Kindle arrived
And it changed all their lives
The loss didn't hurt quite as bad

------------------------------------------------

"This Kindle," he cried, "is fantastic!"
"It's light and it's made out of plastic!"
But what really hit home
When he let his mind roam
Is it held all fifty Harvard Classics!

Red - I'm much harder to offend than that! I just wanted to share the original, too. Especially because it has one of those endings that doesn't fit the rhyme (although I'm sure somebody will make it work in their head). Once you have the rules of a limerick down, it's breaking them, bad rhymes and puns that really make the game.

Matthew, you should join the Yahoo Limericks and Haiku group. You have the knack in spades!

Okay one more one more! lol... Just one more and then I'll stop, I promise :-)

His lunch-money sat on a table
Which he added to when he was able
But the kindle he bought
And loads full without thought
Now replaces both lunch-money and cable!

You guys are GOOD!

Is this a place for comedics'
Acts, and phrases, or edicts?
I would prefer to discuss
My Kindle without fuss
For I try not to be too pandemic

Bryan ;)

Bufo Calvin says:
A tax cheat came up with a swindle
He said he'd adopted his Kindle
And here comes the pun
(You knew there'd be one)
He deducted his kith and his kin-dle

Okay so I lied... ONE more:

Now they say that your font is all whisp-y,
Your case creaky, your buttons so crispy...
But I won't send you back
To that Amazon shack
Because, Kindle, I know that you'd miss me!

Lulu says:
I have to get in on this:

My Kindle's the very best one
It's print doesn't fade in the sun
Gets updates on time
That don't cost a dime
She makes reading a whole lot of fun!

Pretty feeble, but I tried!!

D. Baddorf says:
Did this one just last week, when my husband thought limericks were hard to create:

A lim'rick is simple ma boy.
The pattern is patter. The ploy:
The lines in the middle
They add just a little
But sum up to merr'ment and joy!

But I guess I was supposed to get my Kindle in there.... next time!

Posted on Apr 30, 2009 10:46:33 AM PDT
@Lulu: In what universe was that feeble?? That rocked!

Posted on Apr 30, 2009 11:15:09 AM PDT
A Kindle's a wonderful thing
What joy to a life it can bring!
In air or on ground
Read books all year 'round
Summer, winter, autumn, and spring.

Sorry, guys.... I just can't seem to stop. I apologize!!!:

On a park bench or even in Math Club
(If your teacher allows it in that rub),
All your books it will stow
As you drag it in tow
Just please use a zip-lock in the bath tub!

Lynn McNamee says:
Oh, my, I seem to have created some Kindle Limericking Monsters.

I love it, guys....

Matthew, how about 20 more! LOL

Lulu: Not feeble at all..loved it

Bufo: Loved the tax one...ROFL

Baddorf: while not a Kindle one, it's a cool way to explain limericks.

C'mon, I know more people have seen this post...Add yours!

J. Richards says:
The dictionary's view is a prism
Or maybe it's just egoism
But please tell me why can't I
Find my favorite word "Anti-
disestablishmentarianism"?
