Read the product page! That information is there.

R.R., Amazon says:

8GB internal (approximately 6GB available for user content). That's enough for 80 apps, plus 10 movies or 800 songs or 6,000 books.

Presumably, with no songs or books, you could have about twenty movies.

That only has to last you until you can get to wi-fi again...Amaon stores all you Amazon purchases for you, and if you have Prime, you'll have access to free streaming movies.

For more information, you can see the Kindle Fire product page:

Georgia Tuss says:
20 movies X 2 hours = 40 hours of video -- and you have about 6.5 to 7.0 hours of battery
Looks like you are good to go!

Will Prime members be able to download video files for use offline, or is the storage for purchases only.

You'll need to rent or purchase videos to use them offline.

Tim Mc says:
I didn't see anything in the product description that explicitly states that movies downloaded to the Kindle Fire can be viewed "offline." It mentions download or rent, but appears this could be misleading as it may be referring to downloading to a PC (I know you can do this now). In contrast, the product description specifically states that music can be downloaded and played "offline."

From Amazon Unbox you can click on an external link (under the tab "devices") that takes you to Amazon's website. From there, it only lists Sony Walkmans as compatible portable devices.

I hope we will have the ability to download purchased or rented videos and view them when offline. I travel a lot by airplane and was really hoping this feature is available.

You can buy movies from Amazon and save to your device for offline viewing or if you have mp4's on your home PC, you can sideload them onto the Kindle fire for viewing with the gallary app. The video feature has three options cloud (for videos you have purchased but are not on the device), device (for items you have in memory), and store (this allows you to stream amazon prime or spend money on more videos). Hope this helps someone.

You can. I think you're just getting lost in verbage. It is very clearly possible.

Valkyrio says:
Nope - see how it says 10 movies OR 800 songs OR 6,000 books?

With 10 movies you won't be able to fit many songs at all in your kindle...let alone 800.

I'm having the same issue as gift for you! I can only watch one movie offline and I don't own a mass amount of anything else. It says its downloaded but says its downloading it while I watch online. I have to share Internet bandwidth nh family though. Help me- I love Chicago but I would like to watch other movies every once in a while.

Not true - you need to be connected (wifi) to download but once you have downloaded you don't need to be connected watch your movie/show/video.
What have you tried? Are you sure you are rentinging/downloading and not trying to watch a streaming video?

I believe that the owner's manual is on your device. Look in Documents.

Hello, so I am at the airport and downloaded a couple movies last nite to watch and had some issues playing them without wifi. Went to the help doc on the kindle which did not give much info on how, but finally figured it out.. If I click OFF for the wifi button and then play the movie it worked. Hope that helps!!
