So I read kindle books on my iPad and iPhone, and use whisper sync to keep them in the same place. This works great on the first read of a book, but on all subsequent reads of a book, whisper sync is worthless - it will always try to sync me to the end of the book, and I can't find any way to fix that. Anyone know?

You need to contact Amazon Kindle Customer Service and ask them to reset the last page read.

J. Taylor says:
Right, because they didn't make whisper sync for exactly that purpose..

I don't carry my iPad around with me everywhere, and I don't read on my iPhone when my iPad is around, because it's a vastly inferior way to read.

I think what you need to do is go to each device in turn, open the book and choose menu/go to/beginning. Once all of them are set to the beginning, then sync them and see if that works to reset it.

Otherwise, it will look at the current place on all of them and sync the furthest. But if you put them all back to the beginning of the book first, the furthest place on any of them during syncing is the beginning.

@J. Taylor: The suggestion given by LadyH95 is correct. Only CS can reset that for you.

Not true. I've just tested what I suggested and it works. I have a KK plus K4PC on two different machines.

@CBP: Thank you for that. It must be a new update, because it has not worked until very recently.

This was posted in an earlier discussion of the same subject - it's not my post.

1. Log into your amazon.com account in your web browser. Then go to Your Account > Manage Your Kindle > Manage Kindle Device Synchronization, and click the "Turn Synchronization Off" button. This will turn synchronization off.
2. On a single Kindle device, exit out of your book and go to the Kindle home screen. It probably helps if you pause here for a minute or two . UPDATE: I performed this step on my iPad. There are reports (thanks JK!) that the process won't work if you perform this step on your Kindle device itself.
3. Re-enter your book, and go to the beginning of the book (before doing so, note your current progress on a piece of paper, so you don't lose it).
4. Use the option (on the same Kindle device that you used in step 2) to sync to the furthest position. If you get a message that you're already there, you're in good shape. It didn't work for me on the first try, though. I had to cancel the message (which told me that my furthest point was the end of the book), exit and re-enter the book, and sync again. That took care of it, as the sync message then told me that I was already at the furthest location.
5. Turn synchronization back on at your amazon.com account (see step 1, above).
6. Exit and re-enter your book.

Not sure what you mean by recently; I've only ever updated my KK once, in about Sep last year at my best guess, but it's worked fine for me since I got my kindle in April/May last year.
