Can you listen to an audio book and read at the same time?

OK, I know that may sound strange, but I like to dual process my material. So I typically buy the book and read while listening to the audio book. Is that possible with Kindle?

Only if you buy them both separately. Kindle will not synchronize them for you, you'll have to page through manually.

Great! I don't mind scrolling through the pages. I just wanted to make sure you could play the audiobook and view the kindle book at the same time. Thanks....I can't wait to get it.

audiobooks take up a lot of room and you will have to get an SD card to do this

Just to clarify, you can't actually do this, unless your audio book is in mp3 format. Kindle has an application that plays audiobooks (I use Audible and it plays those files), but if you navigate away from the audiobook page to open a text book, it stops the playback.

However, the Kindle also plays mp3 files, and that will play while you read text. Unfortunately, there is no application associated with it, so you can't control the order of playback of the files, or back up/skip forward. The audiobook application does have those features though.

I use my Kindle to listen to audiobooks at much as I do for reading...it's wonderful! I am hoping a firmware update will offer some more features in the audiobook application (like the one you mentioned and maybe bookmarking in audio files)

I commute a lot in my car. What I really want is a 'Book Reader' that will actually READ the book TO ME while in my car, then when I get home I can start reading where the Reader left off. I know computer can read word documents - can the Kindle read a non-audio book to you?
