I just bought the Kindle about 30 minutes ago and it's shipping soon! I did Free Shipping to San Diego. Where would my Kindle most likely ship from? I don't know whether Amazon has them in their AZ or NV factories as those are the closest ones to San Diego. I just can't wait to get it!!

I have no idea, but When I bought mine I did over night and got it the very next day. I bought 2 for gifts on Momday took standard shipping and they are arriving today Wednesday.

I bought a Ipod Touch for a friend and she wanted the free shipping and it took 8 days.

well i had priority shipping because if it's outside of the US, the only option for international kindle. annoying i know. they already charge us with wireless download of kindle books etc. but they just want us to be charged more. sigh. at least it got delivered directly to my house didn't have to stop by customs.

anyway, i took a look at my tracking page, mine shipped from Northeast Indianapolis IN US then to ohio to hk then to my country. i'm not sure if its the same for US shipments though.

From what I know (and read here on earlier postings) Kindles ship from two places, Camp. KY (for Easterners) and for those out west it's either AZ or NV (I forget which). Those in mid country are tossed up. Of course this could of changed.

The tracking info (USPS, so it's not super accurate) for the kindle I just bought for my mom showed it coming from Delaware. She's in New Jersey so it got there very quick - ordered Friday, it arrived Tuesday (and we did the free shipping).

I live about 45 mins from the NV warehouse and mine didn't come from there. It took too long to get here for that. I can usually order something from Amazon and get it within a day or two with standard shipping. My K2 took a week or more to get to me.

Upgrade your shipping if possible - I didn't at first and it was killing me. I did and I got it within a day or two for maybe 5-10 bucks in shipping!

We are lucky in that we live in the greater Cincinnati area. The great majority of anything we buy from Amazon (we are Prime members) ships from KY, so the free 2-day shipping ends up being free NEXT day shipping!!! I LOVE not having to wait!!

I am in Washington state, and mine came from Kentucky. And it was a very, very long wait...

I live in the Los Angeles area and mine shipped from Phoenix. Ordered last Wednesday (took the standard free shipping) and it arrived on Monday.

My husband bought my Kindle2 and his Ipod Touch on a tuesday and it actually arrived on the next day. we were both surprised by this as we were thinking it would take a few day, i think hubby said it shipped outta IN. and we live in Vandalia Ohio

I'm in the L.A. area too. Mine came from Kentucky. I did the free shipping too. Drove me nuts because it showed it was being processed the day after I bought it but it just sat somewhere for what seemed like days before it finally went out. The tracking didn't give me a lot to go on. I think it took about 8 days from when I ordered it until I received it.

Mine shipped from Seattle, and I live in Oregon. So it seems that they just come from whatever random warehouse that has them.

I don't think there is any logic. I live about 5 miles from the Seattle Amazon and everything I get from Amazon seems to come from KY. And it takes a week or more to get anything.

S. Huth Jr. says:
I actually once had the same book arrive twice (a mistake on Amazon's part, somehow), one each from two different warehouses. They each arrived with half of the total order, with no other duplications. I think they must go in some sort of queue, and whichever worker at whichever warehouse gets to it next ships it.
