I just bought a Kindle book, which I want to return. I know it can be done...but I don't know how to do it.

Go here:

You can call them, or have them call you. It will take about 5 minutes at most.

I find the easiest way for me is to email them with the order number in the email. There is a form email to use on the Kindle Support page.

I'm curious as to why you want to return the book. Is it the formatting? Badly edited? If so, then I hope you share with us the title so we can stay away from it. Thanks!

Hi, Meya

Thanks for the info.

It's too funny. You'd think it'd be easier to return a Kindle book than a regular book. You should be able to do it with the touch of a button, IMHO.

But I suppose they don't want to make it so easy as to invite abuse.

Actually I was more curious than anything else, Im A bookaholic. But as I posted in a different thread, I've bought five Aaron Elkins Gideon Oliver books to date, and each of them has a few formatting errors. Nothing egregious....they always seem to be confined to a single chapter, for some reason!

And I knew that people could return Kindle books, but I couldn't see any way to do so, so thought I'd ask.

Good luck! I'm new to Kindle, presented myself for Christmas with one and of course, made a couple of "accident" buys. Haven't had any idea about return policy so I sent an email
to found out. ...... You guessed! ...... No reply, to date!

Thanks Digger, I have bought a couple of books that had the same issue, but like you said, it wasn't a big deal so I let it slide. I would like to know how to return a book too if in case I find one.

Hi All, This has nothing to do with returning a kindle but I thought I would ask how to start a discussion in the general forum. I started one but it ended up being on my book's site on Amazon and not open to the general public. I am a novice at this. I would appreciate any help you might have.
Thank you,

You can go through the Contact Us link and have them call you. It's not hard at all. I returned a bible on Monday because it was difficult to navigate. They didn't even ask me why I was returning it. They called me and it took less than 5 minutes.

Just call CS at 866-321-8851. Tell them why you want to return it and they'll do it. They accept reasons such as "I'm not going to pay $8 for a novella." Or "the formatting is unacceptable." I know this works because I've done it.

FYI, Diggers Domain, they also accept reasons such as "I just hated this book." I bought a $9.99 book on my Kindle the first day I had it, read the first 25% and realized that no matter how hard I tried I couldn't stand it. I just hated it, and they had no problem returning it. I also returned another because it had graphic "alternative" (or should I say "overly adventurous"?) sex in it, and I hadn't realized the book was about that sort of thing, didn't want to read it... Those are the only times I've ever asked for a return, they have always been great, you won't get that kind of service in a traditional bookstore!

If you go to the Kindle Support page and hit the Content Us button on the right side of page, the first option is to use email. Fill the order number in the space and use the pull down to "return a book". Couldn't be easier. Here is the link to the Kindle Support page.

I know this is an ancient post, but since it came up when I googled I thought I'd help other people who stumble across it. It's much easier to return a book now - just go to the "manage your kindle" page, and click on "actions" next to the item you want to return. "Return for Refund" is one of the options.

Thank you, C. Caldwell! Worked like a charm! And, by the way, "manage your kindle" has been changed to "manage your content and devices."
