Hi all,
Can you recommend a kindle cover that you like and that stands upright? Also, do you use that feature as much as you thought you would. I haven't tried one of these yet so its hard to tell if I'll find it as useful as I think I will. I'd appreciate any feedback!

I got my Kindle cover from Target & it has a "book stand" thingy that lets you put it on a table & read it like that - I have only used it for my cookbooks. It makes it easier than reading the Kindle laying down. I imagine that that will be the only times I use it like that, but I do like it for that purpose.

I have an M-edge Platform on my K2 and I use it constantly. I read while eating which works well. Even when I don't have it standing on a surface, the left edge makes a nice handle. I got my son a regular M-edge for Christmas and he told me that he'd like one like mine.

I thought the same thing, and then one day I came across this:

I have both a Kindle 2 and Kindle 3; the link I gave was for a cover for the Kindle 2 - the price was so low I decided to give my K2 a new outfit - well, when I started using it I absolutely loved the stand type.

Boxwave came out with a vertical stand for the K3, so I got one for it too. I don't think I'll every use any other type cover. It's so handy, and yes, I use the stand quite often.

This link is the the K3 cover I got:

Hope that helps some.

There are three (that I know of) book-style cases for the K3 that have a stand built in -- Noreve (any and all of their colors and leathers), M-edge Latitude with Theatre Stand (black nylon only), and the Speck brand one Linda got from Target (red or black leatherette, faulted for not having a closure).

There are several (to many?) flip-style covers that have a stand built in -- those mentioned above plus JAVOedge
JAVOedge Cherry Blossom Flip Case for Amazon Kindle 3 (Twilight Purple) - Latest Generation
also in different fabrics, and leathers, and Tuff-luv
Tuff-Luv Traditional Leather case cover & stand for Amazon Kindle 3 / Global Wireless 6 inch / 15 cm (latest generation) - Black
Also in a neat embossed "apocalypse" design and in a different style stand like the duragadget's.
Acase and Eco-nique Hemp and Trendydigital and Mivizu all come up when I search Amazon for 'kindle 3 flip' -- also Roo, which appears to have no actual *stand* but stands up using it's front cover. Forgive me for not putting in all the links.

I have a thin stiff cover for my K2 (the Mivizu Sleek which is different than the Sleek that now comes up when you search that name) -- it has no stand but does stand up on most surfaces, at a slightly adjustable angle. It holds the K2 at most angles on my bedclothes! and I use it that way every night. On a tabletop, not so much, but I would if I read while eating.

I purchased the amazon lighted cover case and love it but after much research I wanted to try an upright one as well. I purchased a Javoedge black croc flip style. Totally love it! I use when I'm in the kitchen getting breakfast ready and in the morning reading while I brush my teeth. And yes I use it as much as I thought I would. Plus it's fun having more than one cover depending on my mood and where I'm using it.

I made one out of fabric and card board ( book board ) would work better and it works pretty well. I made it for a lookbook, but I do not have that one any more so I'm going to try to make one to fit my kindle. I haven't yet treid my kindle on it as yet, but I'll look for the site that has the pattern and then post it here. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay
Here is the site that has a pattern for a stand up kindle case. You can fold it and put it in your purse also. ... ver-case./

I have the M-Edge Platform on my K3 and after using it since I recieved it for Christmas I wouldn't have it any other way. I use it in the standing position more than I thought I would and simply love it!

Kara, for 2010 holiday I put together `gift bags' for family/friends whom are educators, love their kindle2; but still buy hard/paperbacks. Each bag contained; COVER: Full Genuine Leather Flip Case for Amazon Kindle 2 by rooCase. LIGHT: Kandle by Ozeri; DecalGIRL Skin; and Amazon gift card. To circle back to your cover question, they ALL loved their present. The leather flip case was perfect for home/business use. The light used for Kindle2 and paper books. For mine I have the Paragonia(purchased in April 2009 with my Kindle).

I know it's not a cover, but since I had gotten a lighted cover and a Kindle for Christmas, I later bought this wire stand. I really like it and it's easy to fold. It wouldn't matter what cover you got with this one. You get two stands in the box, which is nice.

Kara, This was mentioned earlier, Tuff-Luv Traditional Leather case cover & stand for Amazon Kindle 3 / Global Wireless 6 inch / 15 cm (latest generation) - British Racing Green I think that the Tuff-Luv covers are great! And yes, I use the stand a lot. Especially with morning coffee! The Tuff=Luv cases are made of a very fine, soft leather. They completely enclose and protect the Kindle. There are a wide variety of colors and variations to choose from, krystalspin listed several. I had the Tuff-Luv Rouge for my Kindle 2 and am expecting to receive the Eco-nique Hemp for my Kindle 3 next week! I can't wait! I think that you would be pleased with one of these cases.
