I've just ordered a Kindle International. They are shipped to Australia with no power cable, only a USB charging cord. This is a bit disappointing, but it has occured to me that I might be able to use my iPhone power cable (connected to the iPhone via a USB cord) or perhaps my older iPod power converter with my new Kindle. Does anyone know whether this will work?

From the product page for the International Kindle it states:

"Kindle ships with a U.S. power adapter and a micro-USB cable for charging your Kindle from a computer USB port. The U.S. power adapter supports voltages 100V-240V."

So yes, it should come with the power cable. If it's the same we have, the USB and the power cable are the same. It has a removable tip. The cable is for the USB and the tip is for the power.

No, under "important information for Australian customers", it is stated clearly that it is shipped with only a USB cable, not a U.S. (or any other) power adapter.

The actual words: "You must purchase your Kindle from this page if you are shipping to the following countries: Australia. Your Kindle shipment does not include a U.S. power adapter. Kindle ships with a micro-USB cable for charging your Kindle via a computer USB port. "

I'd be willing to bet that the International Kindle will use the same iGo tip that the original K2 uses. If that is the case, than all you have to do is purchase the iGo charger + appropriate tip.
