Olaf Weyer says:
1. I am running Windows 8 Pro 64bit
2. I am using Kindle for PC Software available on Amazon.
3. Sample books have a purchase button when in "cover" view. On Win7
hitting that button would make your default browser visit the amazon
page of that ebook.
4. Now instead, Internet Explore will get opened all the time.
(hitting that button is no longer tied into an https-command, since)
5. Now the REAL problem: I have deactivated Internet Explore on
my system.
Now hitting the purchase on amazon button will make Windows 8
start looking for an App to use, which it can't find.
6. WTF Microsoft!

If Windows 8 is like Windows 7, there are more than one place where default browser is specified. Google for default browser in Windows 8 and see if that helps.
