When I read I sometimes notice that some font is more bold or light then others. Is anyone else noticing this? I wasn't sure if its my eyes playing tricks or the book i'm reading being formatted weird for some reason.

a replacement kindle with 2 day shipping.

The last two books I've read have had this problem. I went to several other books on my kindle PW and they were fine. Sometimes after I've read for a while it seems to clear up. One book I read last week "The Girl With The Cat Tattoo" was very light for the whole book. I checked it on my phone and iPad and it was dark on those. On the books with this problem, I can choose different fonts, but the font on the screen does not change. I've been wondering if it's the PW or the book. My lightness seems to be more on the left side of the screen.

I'm going to call Amazon today. I checked out several books last night and they all have the light text on the first 4 or 5 lines, more on the left than the right. I hate to change my PW because I have no green or pink splotches and minimal shadows at the bottom of the screen. Will I get a new one or a refurbished, I wonder?

I've noticed it, but it's not bad enough on my PW to bother me. Like the lighting issue, the severity seems to depend on the individual unit.

Same here-I don't want to change my PW as there's no issues with
lighting... Not sure whether it will be a new unit or a refurbished
one. Also, noticed, if I go a few pages back - text goes back to
normal, although it goes back to light in a little while.

Got the replacement PW yesterday, was brand new.
Same issue with this book though, but will keep the new one
as it's screen looks better than the old one.
Would be nice to know if anyone else had this issue resolved
somehow.

I called Monday. "Elaine" told me that the techs would not help me until I installed the 5.3.0 update. She said if I still had a problem after that to call back and someone would download my system files for the techs to see if they could find the problem. She said that they would only replace my kindle as a "last resort".
I installed the update and it didn't make any difference. I did find that by using the font 1 size larger that the problem is not as noticeable. I haven't decided what to do. I'm going out of town for a week, I guess I'll decide when I get back. "Elaine" wasn't exactly rude, but she was not very helpful at all, and I'm not sure if I'll call back.

Hi Kathy,
I've spoken to Hazel Glee and she was really
nice. As I've mentioned above - the new
PW had the same issue with that book, however,
I will send the old PW back as I like the
new one better. Try calling them back and
hopefully they will help you!
Best of luck.
