So, can't take pictures with Kindle Fire HD?

Users have been able to take pictures and video with the front facing camera on the Fire HD, but you will need an app to do it. It's also a very low resolution camera (like 1.3 MP) Check the Amazon appstore for Camera apps that are compatible with the HD and read the reviews.

If you are fond of taking low-res photos over your shoulder (or just photos of yourself making faces), some of apps to try are Paper Camera (fun), PicShop Lite - Photo Editor (almost serious), Evernote (very useful for other tasks)...
