So I just got the kindle fire 2nd generation but it has no camera.. I would like to know why

Are you sure you got the HD version? It should have a front facing camera.

You must have bought the Fire, not the Fire HD. The HD Fires are the only ones with cameras.

momofthe6crew - The 2nd Gen Fire doesn't have a camera. The Fire HD does.

R. Acoya says:
If your Kindle Fire has no front-facing camera, you probably need to contact customer service.

At the top of this page is a blue hyperlink that reads Help.

Click on that, and follow the instructions. Many people like to choose the option to have Amazon call them.

Ok, that should be the HD 16 GB with SO, and it should have a camera. Look on the long side on the left. There should be a very small round opening in the middle. If it's not there, you need to call Kindle Customer Service. They will sort it out for you.

Actually, the camera icon is under the "photos" tab. It has nothing to do with "personal videos."

The Artist says:
The newest 7" Fire HD does not have a camera. Nowhere on the product page does it state that it has a camera.

Since this post is more than a year old, they are not talking about the current Fires.

What, that you bought a device with no camera in the description?

Posted on Dec 12, 2013 10:53:37 AM PST
Is there a mic or anything on the kinda fire hd

Posted on Dec 12, 2013 11:18:04 AM PST
Read the product descriptions, know what you are buying, and buy the model which has the features you want. A 4 year old can do it.

Guess they decided to offer a stripped down (and inexpensive) version that parents could give to their kids. Sorry that your fantasy about them not caring about you wasn't the real reason.
