I have downloaded angry birds and other games to my kindle fire. They worked fine for a few weeks and now I get an unknown error message that states I need to download this app again. Any suggestions? I really do not want to pay for this apps a second time.

I have two KF in my house.. Only 1 is doing the error.. 90% of my apps do not work. I get the same error above. I try to acces the amazon app store and it eternally loads.

ok, I got mine working, but unfortunately I didn't systematically do it. but heres what I think I did, but i'm not sure exactly what did it.

In applications, I used the dropped down menu and changed it to "all" and scrolled down to the follwing and stopped them from running:

appstore, quicksettings & uninstalled the ESPN score updater. Rebooted and waaa laaa.. it worked.. hope I helped!

If you guys are like me, then you have the wifi disabled (or you are not connected to a network) when this error is occurring. The Kindle is my daughters and I disable the wifi since Amazon offers absolutely no way to prevent my daughter from buying things in the store.

In any case, all I had to do was re-enable wifi and connect to the Internet and then start one of the apps that wasn't working. I did NOT have to redownload anything. I also did not have to start every app that was having the issue. I started one (Angry Birds) and then shut wifi off again and all apps continue to work.

Hope this helps!

I found another set of posts that point to DRM as the culprit. All of my paid apps had this problem. Upon restarting my Kindle Fire, I happened to notice that the date and time were incorrect. It was reading 1999..."Great Scott Marty!" I fixed the date and time and when I got back to the future everything worked fine. Maybe the date was messing up the DRM check? Still wondering how the date got messed up though....Anyway I hope this helps.

Thanks, Brian: I had the same problem and hadn't noticed the date was back to 2000. Once corrected, the apps work fine.

Ray says:
When battery power drains, the date might be reset to 2000/1/1 and the issue occurs.

Kay Cee says:
Surprisingly, this worked. I did the same and it was set to January 8th, 2000.
Apps/Games: "We're not supposed to exist right now, shutting dowwwwn."
Tablet: "Am I even a concept in 2000? No? Then I refuse to work!"

Can somebody please tell me what a DRM check is?

Alan says:
It's making sure you have a license to use the app. DRM=Digital Rights Management.

OK. My son's Kindlefire was doing the same thing. I checked the date and it was Jan. 1, 1970?! I don't know how that would happen. I told my 10 yo son and he says "yeah, the date changes all the time"! how does this happen?

Posted on Jun 4, 2012 7:06:32 PM PDT
Awesome, thanks to the date guy, it WORKS :D

Just used this post to fix a customer's Kindle Fire that started getting this error on all apps after connect to hotel internet. Evidently it reset the date to February 2nd 1970.
