I have a windows xp pc. I'm trying to copy a azw3 file to my kindle via USB cable. (It's a library book. I've done this before, but this time while my kindle is recharging, it doesn't show up as a usb storage device.

I've had this problem before, but can't remember what the resolution was.

Any suggestions?

thanks

I had a similar problem with other devices. The solution was to unplug the power source of my computer while the computer was still on, replug the power source, turn it back on and replug the device.

Also be sure you are using a USB 2.0 port.

Just tried it on my Windows 7 partition and it still shows up under both USB 2 and 3.

My Fire only will connect on two of the ports on my laptop because the other two don't have the same voltage.

I thought they were talking about a real Kindle. Not a stripped down Android device ;-p

Make sure the kindle is turned on. It won't be recognized as a drive otherwise.

You should never turn off a computer while it is running, if you can help it. You can corrupt system files that way.

I understand people are having problems but at least tell us which Kindle you have.

No idea on Windows 8. I will never upgrade to that version of Windows.
