I would like to know the cost of connecting the Kindle Fire to the internet. Do you have to set up a separate account from your phone or home based computer?

If you have wifi there typically should be no additional cost.

Most of the Kindle Fires are wi-fi only, which means you have to provide the wi-fi connection, either through a wi-fi router connected to your home internet set up, or by going to a business that offers free wi-fi connection.

The Kindle 8.9 4G (which is not shipping yet), is the only Fire that offers 3g/4g service. The first year there is a special offer for $50 for the year, which offers 250 mb of downloads. That's not very much. After that, you have to purchase a 3g/4g plan from AT&T. Look on their site for current plan costs.
