All I see is $79/year.

Under the yellow button on the right to start the free trial, it says it's $7.99 per month thereafter.

If you get it for 12 months it's more expensive than the $79 per year though. Even at the first month free it is still more expensive than paying for the yearly option.

Might be worth it if you were going to do a lot of Christmas shopping, but not order a lot after that. Might save some on shipping. Or a family shipping a lot of college kid's dorm room stuff; one month might be worth it.

That's true, but some people won't necessarily take advantage of it twelve months out of the year. What I like about Netflix is that I can put it on hold whenever I want and ultimately I use it only three or four months out of twelve.

ETC

You guys must be special because it doesn't say that on my screen. :( I even tried it in IE as well as Firefox.

Do you have Prime? If you do, I think you have to sign out, then look up Prime and you may see it.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 7, 2012 1:06:54 PM PST
I'm special but it's a different kind of special. lol

Do you already have Prime? Maybe that's why.

I signed out & still didn't see it - it still says $79 a year. =(

Nope, I don't have Prime. I probably need to delete some cookies or something. That would probably be good for my waistline too ...

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 7, 2012 1:16:42 PM PST
Same here.

I heard about this yesterday (I will look for more info) Amazon is offering Prime VIDEO (only) for $7.99 a month to compete with services like Netflix.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 7, 2012 1:17:27 PM PST
At least you have cookies to delete. My woman won't let me have any.

Well, I guess PJ & Dittie are just more special than we are. LOL!

I am sure that Amazon will get it all straight soon. =)

Here's an article about the subject:

Never mind. I copied the wrong thing. lol

ETA: This is what mine says --

"After your free trial, Amazon Prime is just $7.99/month"

The fine print says that not everyone is *that* special, though.

And you obey her without question?

Posted on Nov 7, 2012 1:19:48 PM PST
My bad, it looks like it will include free shipping as well...

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 7, 2012 1:20:34 PM PST
I did that once. I tried to photocopy my left butt cheek and ended up copying the right one twice.

T. Cannon says:
I am being offered Prime for the $7.99 per month and it does not specify video only. It just gives me two options $7.99 per month and $79 per year. The yearly membership indicates that it is a 20% savings so It would think that I would get all benefits.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 7, 2012 1:21:24 PM PST
Yup, I was incorrect.

Its actually advertised in the New York Post newspaper today. I dont have Prime and when I log out of my account and go to "Sign up for Prime" its stated on the right hand side. Saw it and wanted to share. This would work for people that may not be able to afford $79 all at once and the monthly option is more comfortable.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 7, 2012 2:06:02 PM PST
I'm one of those people. $79 at one time is a lot harder for me to do than $7.99 monthly would be. I guess I could start saving $7.99 per month until I reached $79, but that'd take a while.

I have Netflix right now (just the streaming, no DVDs), so I'm going to browse Amazon's selection and see if it's worth it to me to make the switch. I don't do a whole lot of shopping here, but maybe if I switch I will. :)
