Just filling in for Merry Terry. Hopefully she will be coming aboard shortly.

Good Morning.
Good Afternoon.
Or Good Evening.

You are welcome one and all to come in and join us as we attempt to keep our kindles fat and sassy with frequent one-click feedings.

I was saving this but since I have been cast as the resident rain god, Thunderbird....

@@@@@
Ah..............The Pacific Northwest

A curious fellow died one day and found himself waiting in the long line of judgment.

As he stood there, he noticed that some souls were allowed to march right through the Pearly Gates and into Heaven. Others
though, were led over to Satan, who threw them into the burning pit. But every so often, instead of hurling a poor soul into the
fire, Satan would toss a soul off to one side into a small pile.

After watching Satan do this several times, the fellow's curiosity got the best of him. So he strolled over and asked Satan what he was doing.

"Excuse me, Prince of Darkness," he said, "I'm waiting in line for judgment, but I couldn't help wondering, why are you tossing
those people aside instead of flinging them into the Fires of Hell with the others?"

"Ah, those.." Satan said with a groan, "They're all from the Pacific Northwest.... they're still too wet to burn."

MerryInTexas is organizing a Secret Santa Book Exchange. Please see her post below for the info you need if you'd like to join in.......

MerryInTexas says:
And good morning to all. I had an idea last night. I was going to save it for opening Saturday, but not everybody checks in on Saturday. And it might be just an idea, not a good one. Anyone up for an FC&C Secret Santa? The way I see it so far, there are some rules:

1)you must have a public wish list
2)there must be at least one item 2.99 or under that can be gifted - ebooks, mp3s, or a 2.99 gift card, if you prefer Kindle Fire apps
3)you will need to provide me with an email and your Kindle handle privately, so that I can send you your Secret Santa. I promise to delete all emails from my account after Xmas is over.
4) Secret Santas may deliver their gift anytime after receiving their name, but must deliver their gift before Christmas Day noon.
5)This is still an Xmas present - recipients must swear to not open their present (email) until Christmas morning.
6)If you are participating in Secret Santa, you MUST post at least once on Thursday December 20 or Friday December 21, so your gifter can find you.

I will take names until next Thursday, December 20, and send you your Secret Santa handle on Friday December 21. I do have supervision, Ribbon and Sugared Suze will keep me honest and up to date.

What do you all think???

Hey all poking my head in so folks know all is right in my corner of the world. Just been so extremely busy the last few days that I haven't been on the computer much and poor Ms Diva is crying for free books as I haven't even peeked at the lists just been trying to grab those available from my wish list nor doing more then a really quick scan of the thread.

MerryinTexas- Please add me for Secret Santa and I'll send you an e-mail as soon as this post goes up.

I hope everyone has been well, but just in case I'm sending out good thoughts, vibes, prayers and hugs for those who may have needed them and I'd missed seeing the post.

@Ribbon Thank you for starting. Hoping Merry is just getting some good rest In the last 36 hours I have made 17 dozen oatmeal cookies, 6 dozen rum balls, 16 dozen lemon tea cookies (these are really easy and are so nice), 10 batches of brownies, and made five batches of refrigerator cookie dough that is sitting in my refrigerator to bake tomorrow. My body is not happy with me. Oh what a fun day tomorrow is going to be!

I must admit that when we do/did marathon cookie making there were at least three of us doing it. Okay, towards the end, mom may have done more supervising than helping but ...

If (when :)) you get time, could you post the lemon tea cookies? Thanks

LEMON TEA COOKIES
From my favorite cookie cookbook "Better Homes and Gardens Homemade Cookies" NOT FREE NOW Better Homes and Gardens Homemade Cookies (Better Homes & Gardens Test Kitchen) NOT FREE NOW. The dough is a bit sticky, but puffs up. It is a soft cookie, except for the little browning on the bottom, which not only gives it a little crisp but an extra layer of flavor.

COOKIE
1 tsp finely shredded lemon peel (set aside) I just zest whatever lemon I am using for the juice. If it isn't enough I don't worry about it.
2 tsp lemon juice (use fresh lemon because it is sweeter not bitter)
½ cup milk
½ cup butter
1 ¾ cup all purpose flour
¾ cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
lemon glaze

* In a glass mix milk and lemon juice. Set aside for 5 minutes. (the milk will thicken)
* In a mixing bowl beat butter until softened.
* Add about half of the flour, the sugar, egg, baking powder, baking soda, lemon peel and milk mixture to the butter.
* Beat till thoroughly combined, scraping the sides of bowl occasionally. Then beat in the remaining flour.
* Drop dough from rounded teaspoon 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
* Bake in a 350 F or 190 C oven for 10 to 12 minutes. The bottom edges should turn a carmel brown color.
* Transfer to wire wrack.
* Brush with LEMON GLAZE. (I just dribble the glaze on top. Dribble or Brush as soon as cookies come from oven)

LEMON GLAZE

¼ cup icing sugar (powdered sugar)
2 TBS lemon juice
* Mix ingredients (sugar should liquefy)

Sigh. (head hanging) I messed up. Thanks to Ribbon for stepping in. Yesterday was mostly spent at Dad's house - and my sinuses really, really dislike something over there, so about 1 am, I took a bunch of meds to manage oversized congestion and oncoming migraine - and proceeded to sleep through 2 alarms and the furry feline beeps (remember Blue and the smoke alarm battery imitation?). When I did get up, maybe 40 minutes ago, did not remember that today was Sunday, December 16 til I checked the thread. Thirty lashes coming.

I do have another name for the Secret Santa list, TinselUTiger emailed last night.

Thanks for covering Merry's back this morning Ribbon. Great thing about this thread, helping hands available. :) I cracked up knowing I may be added to the "tossed aside" pile. LOL

Thanks so much to C.Hayes for the wonderful surprise in my email this morning of Murderson (The 2nd Edmonton Police Station Thriller) NOT FREE NOW. So unnecessary but very much appreciated. Happy Holidays to you too. :)

@ Merry in Texas no lashes needed. Whenever I have to do heavy duty cleaning I always take an antihistimine, because when you get into the old stuff, you breathe in all of the mold, mildew, dust and whatever else decided to hide. It keeps the congestion down to a low roar.
