I'd try to help but, really, how does one ever answer the WTF question?

Start here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_sn_kin?nodeId=200127470

You can reach Kindle Customer Service by clicking Help at the top and bottom of every Amazon page. The click Contact Us and follow the prompts.

You can google for the instruction booklet. The slowness when posting might be the Internet connection, not the unit itself.

Have you tried re-booting?

Have you looked in the system settings where it shows how much memory is being devoted to what? Or at the getting started manual included with the device? Or in the help area for the faq and user's manual?

The operating system and software takes up part of your 8 gig just like on any computer out there today.

Click on the app with the question mark in a blue field for help and information.

Also look under the documents tab for manual.

Ok, well you didn't say that in your OP. You said that it was slow when posting a rating. Which to me, means you are connected to the Internet. You never mentioned unlocking or playing apps (some of which require an Internet connection).

It is 8 gig and if you looked at what's "advertised," "user-accessible" capacity is less. You don't have to like it but computers, memory cards and flash devices all have less than 100% user-accessible capacity.

Just to clarify, this will be the case for any electronic item you purchase whether it be an MP3 player, iPad, laptop, iPhone, Android tablet, etc., etc.

Everyone spins storage space in this manner.

Yep. That "Help" link is hidden at the top and bottom of every.single.page. Sure is hard to find.
