The swype on my keypad does not work, it will not make the yellow line and inserts the last letter that was touched. Any Suggestions??

Which Kindle Fire?

Do you have the latest update for it?

Did it work before?
Do you have the latest software updates for you Kindle?
Have you looked in the settings to make sure you have Swype turned on?

I have the Kindle Fire HD. I've been trying to find where to turn the swype on, but cant. My daughter didn't have to activate it, it just worked on hers. I'll try to update, see if that works. Thanks!

Are you using a stylus? Some work better than others.

I don't have a Fire but for the Android devices I have to turn on Swype you need long press a area that you would type in. A pop up comes up and has an option for input method.

Mine was just ... on. Even after I reset to factory defaults.

There should still be a choice if you want to use that keyboard or not.

No stylus. The support said to fully charge, then when I turn it back on, it should automatically update to newest version. If not, I can update manually.

Oh, there is. If you don't want it, you just tap away.

Jazzy_Jeff,

No choice. If you don't want to use Swype's features, just tap the letters as Foliz says.

I am glad I went with a full Android tablet. It is nice to have a lot of choices.

Okay, I've done a web search and it doesn't tell me much. What exactly is Swype?

Do a search on youtube for the swype keyboard. Watch the demonstration.

Swype and Slide-It (the one I prefer but don't have a choice of on the Fire) lets you glide your finger or stylus from letter to letter, in a word, instead poking at one letter at a time. It takes some practice and confidence in the product, but you may come to prefer that typing option.

I don't understand. That's how Swype works on my Fire. How is Swype and Slide different from the Swype on the Fire?

Charlene - I don't think there is any difference. i was replying to the question, "What is Swype?"
