Which do you guys thinks is the best just for reading? The Kindle paperwhite or the fire?

Just for reading, the Paperwhite.

The Paperwhite because it has an eInk screen as opposed to the backlit LCD screen of the Fire.

T. Cannon says:
I have a Fire. It is my only Kindle and I have no problem reading on it. That being said if all I was doing was reading I would have a Paperwhite. The main reason for me would be battery life. If I am going to read all day long (I don't often get to do this but sometimes.) I always end up spendng the last few hours tethered to the charger so that my battery won't die.

That's a good point, that I had not considered, since I had e-ink Kindles before I got my Fire.

And honestly? I find the Fire too heavy to hold for long periods of reading.

 Ann says:
I have both devices, and do all of my reading on the Paperwhite. It's much lighter and easier to hold than the Fire, the battery lasts longer, and the e-ink screen is easier on my eyes. I can also use it outside in bright sunlight.

I have Fires and I have a number of e-ink Kindles. For me, e-ink for reading wins every time. Weight, backlight vs ambient or front light, battery life - e-ink is my choice for reading.

I had the Nook Tablet and recently switched to the Kindle Paperwhite due to the same reason as T. Cannon, battery life. The NT was OK for reading (except in bright sunlight), but I was always concerned about charging the battery so I could read when I wanted. Love the Paperwhite. It has great battery life, is very light, and works great in bright sunlight.
