Can I borrow a book from a friends Kindle??

Some books are "loanable," most are not. Go to your Manage Your Kindle page, and look under the Actions menu to the right of the book. If it is loanable, you'll have the choice there to "Loan this Title." You will need to enter an email address for the person you are lending the book to, just a regular email address, not their special "Kindle email address."

They will then receive an email, with a link they have to follow to "accept" the loan. They have 7 days to accept it, then 14 days to read it. You will not have access to the book during this time. You can only lend a book once. The loaning option is controlled by the Publishers.

*You* cannot borrow from someone else's account but *they* can loan a book to you. The action starts with the loaner (if the book is lending-enabled.)

If the Lend option isn't there, it is because the Publisher doesn't allow it.

That particular book can't be loaned out then. That is the publisher's decision, not Amazons. Sorry.

Is the book lending-enabled? (Provide the URL for the book and we can check that out.)

It's not lendable, but it does sound interesting. : )
If you scroll down to the Product Details, the will be Lending:
It will state there whether or not the book is lendable.
