I have a new Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas. Now every time I turn on the screen, I get this error message: "Gathering Information...please wait...will restart in a few minutes." Why? It takes 2-3 minutes for the Kindle to open. Is something wrong with it? Or is this normal?

I don't know why it is doing that, but if you are just waking it up that is not normal.

are you shutting it off? or putting it to sleep? its recommended you put them to sleep not off if you use the kindle daily

The same exact thing happens to me. Did you try factory reset by any chance?

I am having the same problem. It goes to sleep. When I return, after pressing the power button to start, it says "Gathering Information...please wait...will restart in a few minutes." It then goes away, allows me to re-open my book/start reading, thens follows through with the restart.

Another restart does not solve the problem. Looking to try a reset.

That's what I'd suggest, a reset or reboot. Hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Reset did the trick for me, no more reboots!

Also, people have had trouble with the magnetic covers that turn PWs on and off with open/close. If you have a "wake up" cover, try taking the PW out and see if the issue resolves.

Is this still happening? Mine just started doing it after I charged it for the 2nd time last night...

I had the same problem. Reset fixed it for me.
