No joy in Muddville, as my Dad would say, Mighty Casey had struck out. Thank goodness for free books and comraderie (yes, I elevated "chat" to what actually occurs here :D ). Today, there's a virtual patisserie, featuring an amazing selection of croissants, danish pastries, baguettes, tartines and even ice cream and sorbets. Today's special breakfast treat is a Belgian waffle topped with your choice of fruit compote and as much whipped cream as you'd care to imbibe. Once you've selected your victuals, stop by to visit our virtual barista for your favorite beverage and then proceed to the virtual library. Notice we have provided decor that ranges from Old World charm to bleeding edge New Age technology, so find your niche and get comfortable. Chatting is allowed, of course, even encouraged, as we wish you to share the goodies you've found with anyone else. Those wishing to maintain their privacy may invoke the state-of-the-art "Cone of Silence." Please have a wonderful day...

From my wishlist (it appears there is another freebie ParTay going on, so I've included the book descriptions)

Warrior's Lady (The Stones of Destiny Series)
Camden Lockhart vowed to eliminate the Ruthven clan after they had destroyed his family. All he had left was a small niece and the legacy of the Charm Stone she carried, but no one knew where the little girl was.
Rhiannon Ruthven came to the abbey to escape the brutality of her brothers and find solace. Instead she found the orphaned Violet Lockhart in need of an escort to her uncle's castle. Rhiannon didn't know it, but she would be walking straight into a nest of assassins.
Watching Rhiannon nearly sacrifice her own life to save another's, Camden knew he could not condemn her to death. He'd have to protect her from the very men he'd hired to kill her. Scottish legend said the Charm Stone had the power to heal, but was it strong enough to unite two wounded hearts?

A Knight to Desire (Brotherhood of the Scottish Templars) Book 4 of 4 in the series
The artifacts were legendary--the sword of Charlemagne and the Holy Grail. And now they were gone, stolen by those who hoped to use their mystical powers to destroy Scotland.
Sensuous as sin and wild as the Highlands, Sir Simon Lockhart must reclaim the treasure while protecting his fellow Templars against a madman who wants to wipe out the order and guarding his heart against a red-haired beauty whose greatest wish is to run headlong into danger.
Brianna St. Clair had trained nearly her whole life to be a knight and is haunted by premonitions of a terrible battle. It's these very visions that Simon hopes will lead them to the treasure and the traitor. But while Brianna can wield a sword as well as any man, she has no defense against the seductive pull of... A Knight to Desire.

Sacrifice In Stone paranormal romance short story
A warrior trapped by a curse. Only one woman can save him...but giving him back his life may mean she must die.

The Marriage List (full-length sweet historical romance)
Compelled by his family to marry, Viscount Radford Evers makes a list of his requirements for a wife. Humble tenant May Sheffers meets none of these, so why does his heart beat madly at the sight of her?

Kiss of the Phantom (Sexy Paranormal, Book 3)
--a brooding, sexy Gypsy willfully trapped by a dark, haunting curse
--a mercenary treasure huntress on the run to save her life
--will their non-stop action-adventure lead to love and redemption...or death?

Thanks, Ketta for the start. A long day at work, but stopping in to show a few more on my wish list this morning, other than those already listed:

CON TEST: Double Life (A Mystery) - Publication Date: March 30, 2011
William Fortune is a novelist who has created spine-jolting and masterful crime thrillers that catapults him to the Best Sellers List and blockbuster films. His prismatic life is being chased down by the intricately mystifying Justice Lorenzo, a con man who has been feeding William his plots for years. All is well considering Williams earnings keep Justice Lorenzo on the run from the Secret Service for identity theft, fraud related crimes, and the unthinkable: murder.
A problem arises when Justice demands that William write his latest novel, DOUBLE LIFE, with the exact facts that placed Justice on the run. William refuses because that may lead to Justices arrest, and maybe his too, as an accessory after the fact. As a result Williams finds himself kidnapped, tortured and his wife doing the unthinkable to get the ransom money.
The action in CON TEST brings LAPD and the Philadelphia Secret Service Agency to a complete halt and readers will be baffled to find that Williams fiction novel jolts to life. And, yes the words to Williams novel are printed between the covers of CON TEST, so readers get two stories in one. This CON TEST is far more gratifying than the Lakers and Celtics rivalry. Justice and William will square off and you will find the victor in CON TEST.

My Cheeky Angel - Angels Love Romance (Angels with Attitudes) - no real description other than "light" romance - as it mostly talks about the free book party.

The Selkie Enchantress (Seal Island Trilogy, Book 2) - Publication Date: August 29, 2012
In this modern-day fairy tale romance, Irish islander, Caitlin Conner, has been in love with professor of Irish folklore, Liam O'Sullivan, for as long as she can remember. But just when he's starting to look at her as more than a friend, a mysterious woman arrives on Seal Island and captures his heart. As Caitlin discovers the truth behind the woman's lies, she realizes Liam is trapped in a dangerous enchantment and the only way to break the spell is to uncover a secret Irish fairy tale that has remained hidden for hundreds of years. But when the petals of a white rose grown in winter start to fall, the legend is set in motion. And Caitlin must find a way to change the ending before the last petal falls.

Rabid: A Novel (A Medical Crime Thriller) - Publication Date: September 11, 2012
The Graduate Student, Her Professor, His Wife, Her Priest, and a Virus.
In this crime thriller with clever twists and turns, four characters--a graduate student, her medical school professor, his wife, and her priest--spin out of control in a world where science and religion are in constant conflict. A priest of the modern Inquisition arrives in a New England college town to investigate allegations of child abuse by the local parish priests who have suddenly and mysteriously disappeared. The priest, a famous scientist in his own right, is drawn into the private hell--and bed--of a pretty parishioner who confesses that she wants to kill her husband because of his infidelity. The husband, a prominent yet self-absorbed professor and medical doctor, is relentlessly driven by his mad quest to win the Nobel Prize and by his brazen and reckless lust for his students. When one of them falls ill with a mysterious neurological disorder, no one knows how bad things really are--until the subject of the professor's secret research is revealed and crescendos in a brilliantly depicted battle between faith and science.
If you like the novels of Robin Cook, Michael Crichton, or Richard Preston, you'll love T.K. Kenyon's medical crime thriller RABID.

Good thoughts going out to you today....keep us updated when you can, glad that for once insurance will work for the patient.

Ketta -
love, love the Southwest corner, as I snuggle in my oversized leather and cowhide armchair flanked with suede pillows and Maine Coon, feet outstretched on tooled leather ottoman (in the space the Persian left me) sitting on Zapotec handwoven rug next to the Pommy in his Pendleton blanket coat, the wrought iron lamp sitting on the reclaimed barnwood table beside me has just the right light for reading, not that I need it with the Paperwhite, and holds my cinnamon hot cocoa cup just fine. If you all hear an eerie flute sound, it's coming from my spot....

I'm slowly collecting these:

Happily Never After (The Grimm Chronicles, Book 2) 200 years ago, the Brothers Grimm unleashed their stories upon the world. Literally. Now the characters of the Grimms' stories walk among us. With every day that passes, they grow more evil. They are the Corrupted, and only a hero can save them. For 18-year-old Alice Goodenough, that means taking precious time off from her summer vacation. In addition to volunteering at the local library, Alice must stop the Corrupted who are now actively hunting her down. With the help of her magic pen and her trusty rabbit friend, the world has suddenly gotten a lot more complex. The Corrupted are everywhere, and only Alice can see them for what they truly are. Meanwhile, at night, Alice's nightmares have begun to grow more real. Terrifying man-eating rats are plaguing the city of Chicago, and it's up to Alice to figure out a way to stop them. But before she can do that, she'll have to face off with an even more dangerous enemy sent to kill her. An enemy that has killed heroes before ...

In the Blood: A Genealogical Crime Mystery #1 (Jefferson Tayte)Family history was never supposed to be like this... When American genealogist, Jefferson Tayte, accepted his latest assignment he had no idea it might kill him. But while murder was never part of the curriculum he is kidding himself if he thinks he can walk away from this one. Why can't I trace them? What happened to them? Driven by the irony of being a genealogist who doesn't know who his own parents are, Tayte soon finds that the assignment shares a stark similarity to his own struggle. Someone has gone to great lengths to erase an entire family bloodline from recorded history and he's not going home until he's found out why. After all, if he's not good enough to find this family, how can he ever expect to be good enough to someday find his own? Set in Cornwall, England, past and present, Tayte's research centres around the tragic life of a young Cornish girl, a writing box, and the discovery of a dark family secret that he believes will lead him to the family he is looking for. Trouble is, someone else is looking for the same answers and they will stop at nothing to find them
