I have an audible audiobook and a kindle version of the same book. Is there any way I can read along with the audio on the same device at the same time?

No, you can't read an ebook an listen to the audiobook at the same time.

You can read the book and listen to text-to-speech at the same time, if the books has the TTS enabled by the publisher.

There is no text file in the Audible purchase, just the sound file. The only way it MIGHT work with two files would be to try to put the Audible file manually into the music folder by itself, so it would play while you read. The big drawback (if it is even possible) is that music folder files aren't searchable and start over at the beginning each time you access them. On Audible.com, you can get the manager program and download to your computer instead of your Kindle. Then you can load it onto an mp3 player and listen while you read.

I'm now really used to read book in this new way: on my ipod / IPAD, listen to the audio book playback on Audible app at 2X or 3X speed, and at the same time read the text of the kindle book on the Amazon Kindle app. All your sense are engaged, and you read really fast. Very enjoyable!
The down side is that you pay twice for the same content: for audible, and for kindle. But it's well worth it. (or tell me that I'm crazy :-) )
AMAZON, can you consider to sell kindle ebook/Audible audiobook bundle? I'd be very happy to buy the bundle all the times.

You could listen the audiobook on a music player.

Robert, the publishers control the pricing so Amazon cannot make combo packs or offer discounts on ebooks. You would have to contact the publishers and get them to offer a combo pack.

I've been able to play the audio book via the audible app for kindle and read it at the same time. The down side is that if you need to pause you have to pop open the audible app and pause which takes a few seconds.

Yes providing you're reading on an iPad at least, just open up the audible app as well as the Kindle app and you should be good to go

Have two kindles. Read a text version of the book on one of them-say a PW, or Basic-and listen to the audio , or TTS, version play on the other...perhaps a Keyboard, or Fire HD.

Pineapple's reply 2 posts above gives you the links that explain how to do this.

To wit:

Immersion Reading

The Kindle Fire HDX, Kindle Fire HD 2nd Generation, Kindle Fire HD, and Kindle Fire 2nd Generation have Immersion Reading built into the device. ****Immersion Reading can be used when both the Kindle book from the Kindle store and the audiobook from the Audible store have been purchased. Once both are downloaded*****, simply open your Kindle book, tap the play icon in the lower left hand corner and watch your book come alive with professional narration and real-time word highlighting.
Any time you want to pause the narration, click the pause button. No matter what page you are on click the play button again and immersion reading will start from where you left off reading.

Keep in mind - you have to have bought the audiobook for this to work... (I might be channeling Captain Obvious)

And there are some books that don't have audiobooks. To check you might visit the Match page...
