I have an old Kindle, & use it all the time to read. I just purchased an Android Nexus 7 to use as my e-reader among other things. I saw that the Kindle Fire was down to $159, so I got it for my daughter for Christmas. When I registered it, all of my books from my old Kindle were downloaded to it. I erased them from her device, but as soon as I re-register it they all come back. Do I need to start a New Amazon Account to use just for her, so she does not have access to my books? I don't want to lose all of my downloads!!

Yup. Any device you register to your account can see and download the books on that account. The Fire has parental controls though to block downloading, you can put the books you want her to have on the Fire then block the rest.

Just remember any books you purchase for her belong to the account that they were purchased on, if you want her to be able to take the books with her when she moves out then she will need to have her own account.

If you and he have separate amazon accounts, Cinder, then you can't merge them. They're forever separate.

If you have e-ink kindles, you can de-register one, register it to the other account, download what you want, then reverse the process to register it back to your own account. You can't do that with Fires, though, because deregistering erases content as well.
