The updates are pushed out in batches. As long as you turn the wireless on periodically, it should get to your Kindle eventually. You can just wait for it, or you can manually download it from http://amazon.com/kindlesoftwareupdates.

Wendy, you could follow the link in the first post and update it yourself

I think my kindle touch updated something. I was on wiFi and downloaded a game and 1 book. My kindle states it is doing an update. Then it was shutting down to restart. My kindle is now froze at the please wait screen and has been for a couple of hours. I tried holding the off/on switch for 20 seconds, no change. I then plugged it in to the computer and it does not recognize the kindle. Now what? Can't plug it in to the outlet, don't have the plug to do that with. It there a reset button under the panel on the back?

CBRetriever says:
no, no, no, don't open up your kindle - the holding the on/off switch (not while the kindle is charging) for 20 seconds is the reset switch

Kelly, press the Home button and then Menu. Settings is one of the Menu options.

I tried holding the switch and it did not work. I plugged it into the computer with my cord and the computer is not recognizing it as being plugged in.

LOVE the new updates!!! Especially the MP3 capability. I listen to pod-casts (or whatever the right term for them is) in MP3 format, so I'm not using it for music, but rather for pod-casts, and it's fantastic. The web browser is GREAT! It won't replace my home computer, but it is still great! THANK YOU for continuing to support this hardware!

What happened to the swipe up or down to move from chapter to chapter feature. It doesn't seem to be working after the update. Other than that, everything about the update is great. And yes, I did try a hard reset before posting.

Not all books have indexed chapters. I just tried it on several that do, and it still works. Try it on the User's Manual. That has chapters that still worked on mine.

Kelly: The Kindle Touch Support Page on Amazon will help you find and learn all the features of the device. On the support page you will find diagrams, instructions, etc. I have copied the link to the Support Page below.

I think my Kindle did the update on its own, is that possible? And can someone please tell me exactly what the new updates are?
Thanks sooo much!!!

 Ann says:
Yes, the updates are pushed out automatically, usually over the course of a few weeks. Those who don't want to wait for an update can download and install it manually. Information is here - http://amazon.com/kindlesoftwareupdates.

Since Amazon updated my kindle touch, I am unable to see my collection on Manage my Kindle. How do I fix this.

In reply to an earlier post on May 24, 2012 10:21:42 AM PDT
Denis Powell says:
Sandy, I've only ever been able to see my Collections on my Kindle. I've never seen them on "Manage Your Kindle" on the website. Are you saying you can't see collections on your Touch Home Page? Have you got it set to show "Collections" or is it set to show "My Items - Recent"?

Default foreign language dictionary is still mssing.

CBRetriever says:
it's in your archives under the Dictionaries (looks like a book title, but it's really a subfolder), connect, click on it/them and download it/them and it/them will go into your dictionaries collection. I just have the french and english dictionaries.

I knew the update was done because I had a message on my kindle telling me so, and it detailed the updated items.

I have found another issue with the upgrade. When I highlight a word to get the definition, if I click on more info the typeface size jumps to a ridiculously huge font size. Makes it impossible to read when it can't even fit one word on a line. I hope they're working on fixing the issues with the typeface sizes that came with this upgrade.

Oh really? Okay, I'll give it a shot.
