Why is the paperwhite kindle not available in the Netherlands?

It is so frustrating that I receive almost every week email from amazon.co.uk advertising the Paperwhite while it is not possible to order it to the Netherlands. Every now and then I try to purchase it but it reveals the ugly truth only when I'm placing the order. How difficult it would be to sort the mailing list according to countries if there are restrictions?

Because Amazon doesn't want to.

There are always ways. But hopefully you will not need warranty service since Amazon will not ship a warranty replacement to a country they are not selling to yet.

I found a way to ship it to the Netherlands!

maybe because they've already run out in 4 of the 5 stores (Germany is shipping after the New Year, Spain in late January and France and Italy in early February) and the US is now shipping Dec 24th for orders placed today. The only store that seems to have a good stock is the UK one as they're shipping Dec 14th (I put that down to discontent that the 3G does not allow one to browse the web like it does on the Kindle Keyboard)

and I don't know if y'all were around for the release of the Kindle Touch - it was released about the same date as the Paperwhite, but in 2011 and it was released internationally in late March / April with the other Kindle Stores not getting it until April 21st.

I've just tried to order it and they won't send it to me in NL from either .com OR .co.uk!

UK is notoriously restrictive, but someone was able to get one from the amazon.de site (maybe a glitch?)

just have a little patience - there was only about a three week gap between the Kindle Touch going international and it being released to the International stores (we had to wait that time, it's the rest of the world having to wait this time)

Amazon announced the launch of the PW in Europe earlier this week. I don't know if the Netherlands is included. See: http://nvonews.com/2012/10/13/amazon-kindle-paperwhite-to-hit-europe-on-oct-25-specs-features/

Bixillarla says:
Amazon usually starts out by only selling to the US market, then when that demand is met then they open it up to international sales.

The Touch took 5 months to become available internationally.

They're not always available outside the U.S. when devices are first released. They usually serve their largest market (the U.S.) first.

I would love to have the Kindle paperwhite... but Amazon.com won't ship it to the Netherlands. Why not? All other kindles are shipped abroad... I want it badly!!!
