Go to the App Store, type in Netflix in the search and the Netflix app will come up. Then just log in, I just did it on my Kindle HD 8.9 and it's working fine. Hope this helps. Mar

I cannot find the Netflix kindle app in the app store..tried downloading directly from Netflix site and I got a list of operating systems the app is compatible with so started believing there was no Netflix app for kindle only to find out from this forum that there is. Why am I not finding the Netflix app in my kindle hd fire?

I have just bought a kindle fire but I am very disappointed that you cannot change the keyboard to the Norwegian alphabet, can this be fixed?

As a retired Microsoft support engineer, I can empathize with you TOTALLY. But progress IS progress. That said, I still have XP on one of my systems, Vista on another and 7 on this system. BUT there is no way I will consider 8 unless I get a touch screen. I HAVE a touch screen...a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. Since I have a portable hot spot, I got rid of my smartphone because with a 10" screen and a portable hot spot AND Skype, I've essentially got a really large screen smartphone.

My FIRST touch screen was the original Kindle. I've now got the Kindle HD and love the thing. It has a great HDMI output so I can watch movies on a larger screen, something my Galaxy can't do.

BTW, when I started working at Microsoft, I supported DOS. Remember that? I've been in the biz for over 30 years, I've even used CP/M. I would no more go back to those machines than I would hit my left hand with a sledge hammer (I'm a lefty). Progress is progress and I am one who celebrates it!

I guess for those , like you, that hold on to older (still functional) hardware, Amazon (like Microsoft, and others) see no advantage to support your device. Thus forcing those that, say have Win XP still installed on a computer, or Verizon no longer supporting a Nokia cell phone circa 1995. You will be forced to up grade your hardware to take advantage of the latest software releases. i.e. iPhone 3g cannot be installed with OS 6, even though the phone works.
Remember, you are loved, but your old antiquated devices ARE NOT!

Which Kindle do you have? The HD has text to speech plus they are starting to have Audible companion speech. It is great to be able to read a book then just pplug it into your car radio and listen to the book as you driving along.

Just bought a Samsung Tablet with a 10.5"screen. Expensive but LARGE screen. Android Kindle app is fantastic. But my KFHD is always in my purse.

Listen, kindle's basic main screen need to be changed. It should look like ipad with icons, that will make kindle screen look bigger. Current home screen is too busy. It is not only a book reader, it is a small tablet. Amazon please work on it.

I would be happy if they just updated the original so it would connect to a netgear routed. I'ge gone as far as having the kindle replaced and still can't get it to connect!

You're getting exactly what you paid for, exactly what was advertised when you bought it. Amazon isn't liable for your regrets.

To get this straight....the loyal owners of the Kindle Fire 1st generation are not getting anything? If that is case then only option is to buy a newer version of the Fire. Correct?

ANY earphones will work with KFHD or even the original Fire. It does not have to say it is for this, that or any other device, they just charge more for items labeled with *I" anything.

If they could put everything that the 2nd gen Fire could do on the 1st gen hardware they wouldn't have spent the money to design the 2nd gen. The 1st gen Fire does what it was designed to do. They could have put TTS on it when they released it if that were there intent. There's no reason they would add it now if they hadn't before.

if they do, I doubt that all the functionality of the new Kindle Fires will/can be able to be applied to the older ones due to the different level operating systems - kindle like some older PCs couldn't update to newer Microsoft OS after a while

My husband and I both use Speaker Boost. We use the free app from the Kindle App Store. There are warnings not to use it above a certain percentage something like 35% or it might harm your speakers so we keep it on 30% and it has helped so much. I had difficulty hearing some movies but now I can watch movies without my earphones. I bought a moderately priced pair at with several pairs of spongy soft ear cups you can change..the soft molds to your ear to help block out room noise. Good Luck.
