Yes, two models are shipping to Thailand. See CBRetriever's post above.
Shipping costs and times to Thailand are:
Standard 17-26 business days for $4.99 plus $2.99 per pound per item
Expedited 12-17 business days for $8.99 plus $2.99 per Kindle or Kindle Accessory
Priority 3-5 business days for for $14.99 plus $5.99 per Kindle or Kindle Accessory

no one here knows and if they do, they're amazon employees and won't say anything until amazon announces it

I'd like to know if Amazon intends to propose an international shipment for Kindle HD Fire 8.9 (yes 8.9 !) and when. If I'm not wrong it was done for DX.
Thank you for answering.

Also, regarding delivery costs: for the Kindle devices (eInk e-readers), the delivery time and cost will be stated somewhere during the purchase/check-out process. This will depend on the destination - for some countries, Amazon now pre-charges the customs costs in addition to the price of the device and delivery costs, so that the customer will not have to go through the customs process and pay these costs themselves on receipt; for other countries, the customs costs will be in addition to the price Amazon charges the customer.

This will all be shown clearly during the check-out. I'm afraid that I don't know the specifics for Thailand, but in either way, it should be made obvious before actually clicking the buy button.

For ebooks, there is no additional delivery cost - the book will cost whatever is displayed on the book page when the customer is signed in and has their country of residence chosen under their country settings (this may differ from the price of the book as shown in search lists, recommendation etc, as those are often the US prices). Once you're on the page of the actual book itself, the price displayed there is the final price of the book.

I apologize - I meant E-readers! I have one myself, so I need to have my head examined!

I'm still confused about whether you mean ebooks (digital versions of books, books as computer files) or ereaders (the devices that ebooks are read on).

Either way, I think my post above yours answers all your questions. Amazon (not Kindle - Kindle is the name of the device, not the company) ships Kindle Keyboard and Kindle Basic (the devides) internationally and most ebooks are also available internationally (delivery time is instant, as these are computer files), but that depends on publisher restrictions which are book-specific.

E-books are digital downloads. They are not shipped. You have to check the Kindle store to see which books are available for download in Thailand. There's no way for us to know.

If you mean the Kindle e-book device, the only ones currently available for international shipment are the basic Kindle and the Kindle Keyboard.

No, I'm talking about a friend here in Thailand who wants to buy an E-book on-line and have it shipped internationally. I know Kindle ships internationally, but WHAT they ship isn't clear, or how long it will take and the cost...

As far as I can tell from the country drop-down list on this page: Kindle Keyboard 3G, Free 3G + Wi-Fi, 6" E Ink Display, 3G Works Globally - for international shipment (it's the international page for Kindle purchases), Thailand is on the list so Amazon do ship Kindles there.

The only Kindles currently available outside a very select handful of countries are the eInk Kindle Keyboard and Kindle Basic (not sure about Kindle Touch any more). Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Fire are not available outside a very few countries.

I have no idea about delivery time to Thailand, but when I bought my Kindle 3 from Amazon a couple of years ago, I think I received it two days after it was shipped, so very fast.

As for ebooks, the majority are available internationally (and the delivery takes, hm, five seconds?), but many are geographically restricted. This depends on the contracts between the publishers and the authors - if the publisher doesn't or cannot allow Amazon to sell a book to customers in a certain country, Amazon cannot sell it to customers in that country.

Leonard, if you have a kindle or a kindle app and order e-books they download instantly. Do you mean paperback versions of ebooks?

I live in Thailand. Do they ship here and, if so, in how many days?
