Did you ever think to lock your door? Rather pointless rant....

I got a fire for my grandchildren that are 2 and 4 and had a pink otter box on it. It has been almost a year and we have had no problems with it. Both children use the many learning apps on and yes they are rough with it, drops, spills extra.

I haven't tried the Botbox, but I do have an i-Blason ArmorBox Kido Series for Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 Inch Tablet [Not Compatible with Kindle Fire HD 7] Light Weight Super Protection Convertiable Stand Cover Case Kids Friendly (Blue). It works great. I started with a fully enclosed case like the Otterbox, but it was frustrating opening it to clean off the screen when drool would leak in occasionally. Plus, it make the Kindle super heavy. I next got a marware swurve, which was light weight and very good. Made the Kindle easy to find, too. But I think the foam design with the handle has got to be my favorite. The kids instantly figured out how to use the handle, and there are lots of fun colors. My boys have had Kindles since the first gen Fire. At 4 & 2, they've been very good with being "gentle" with their Kindles overall. I think the enclosed hard cases are a pain, personally, and won't go with one again. I'll just wait for the foam open ones that are easier to clean.

Has anyone tried the Fintie Botbox? Do you know if the Survivor by Griffin is for 2012 or 2013 kindle fire 7. My kids are 3 and 6. Looking for a case that will protect it from drops. Are the Survivor or otterbox really worth twice as much?

If it is not a Kindle Fire HD Marware Swurve Kid Proof Case is excellent..I'm hoping that they make it for the Kindle Fire HD. My grandkids have this on theirs and one took a dive from a grocery buggy with no damage. They are 7, 5, 3 and 1. They are wonderful cases!

I just ordered from amazon the otterbox case for the kindle fire hd. I ordered it on the 13th of this month and it said it was temporarily out of stock. Just got an email today confirming that it shipped. Not sure if it's legit or not, but once I receive it I'll definitely let you know! Praying that is the right case so I can have them on the kindles when we give them to the kids for Christmas!

Huh, that's strange b/c on their FB page it says it will be out shortly after Xmas or New Year's?

I have contacted Otter Box and they have informed me they currently do not have plans to make a case for the kindle fire hd 7". I suggest everyone contact them about it and maybe they will go ahead and get one out.

Whoa Mama - That one looks like it's for the HD, indeed, but the BIG one. Since this is for my 3yr old and 6yr old, I was planning on going w/ the smaller version to save $. Hopefully Otterbox will step up the ante and make the smaller version soon b/c I agree with you, I LOVE my Otterbox for my iPhone and iPod. It's saved both devices on numerous occasions!

OtterBox Defender Series Protective Case for Kindle Fire HD 8.9", Black (with built-in screen protection)They have an otterbox listed on the amazon site, it's out of stock, but it does look like the right case, as the camera is centered instead of on the corner. I love my otterbox for my phone, my phone has survived a bunch of toddler tantrums and klutzy mommy moments. my only complaint is that the plastic that covers the screen gets super smudgy very quickly and is hard to clean :(

I haven't found anything yet. I checked out the gumdrop sleeve, but it doesn't look like it'll fit the Fire HD. The Fire HD is a lot bigger than the Fire. It also doesn't look like a very good kid case.

Has anyone found a child-proof case for the kindle fire hd? i checked gumdrop & otterbox and didn't see an option for the kindle hd only the fire. any suggestions would be great!

Esther - Did you get the Kindle Fire, or Fire HD? Do you know if the Ballistic case fits the Fire HD, as well? I was unable to find that spec while quickly browsing the Ballistic site.

J. Wabin - Did you ever look at the Gumdrop Sleeve or just the case when purchasing for the Kindle Fire you currently have? I wonder if the sleeve would be any different in fit, in that it might fit the HD as well? Kinda looks like a version of the case built into a zipper maybe not...but I may look into it a bit more.

I'm tagging on to this conversation (wish I had something new to add) b/c we're thinking of getting our kids Kindle Fires for Xmas. We have a 3yr old and a 6yr old, and travel a lot. Right now, they fight over my iPhone, iPod and my husband's Droid >:-P. However, as most kids are, they are clumsy and sometimes a bit harsh with things and I would not trust any of our phones or iPods in their possession w/out the Otterbox cases, or the like. Has anyone found a good case for the Fire HD?

My 2 year old opens netflix and chooses what she wants to watch all kids are different.

As an update, I got my kid's Fire the Gumdrop case as soon as I could. It works great, and makes the device much easier to hold. Now, I checked out the Fire HD, and it is a nice upgrade. I'm thinking of trading in our Fire for the Fire HD via the Amazon trade in program, but I need to wait for kid friendly cases. Anyone know of any?

Hi everyone, although this posting is a bit old, we just got our 4 year old a kindle fire and along with it a ballistic tough case. I dont like the looks of it as I wish I could have something more girly, however, this baby loks like It will protect this kindle from it all. hope it helps!

THanks to those posting their "finds" in cases. I have a Targus Vuscape case that I adore for my Kindle as it is very sturdy and simple (not bulky or complex), but I am looking for something with a bit more "edge" to it for my soon-to-be-3 year old, just for added protection. He figured out the MobiGo in no time flat was a sorry sub for my Kindle and his 11-yr old sister's tablet. I would give my eye teeth for some braniac electronics maker to construct a child-safe learning device that LOOKS LIKE THE REAL THING. Manufacturers throw the flashy colors and big buttons and graphics-impaired screens on these kid devices, and it's a dead giveaway to the average kid that it ain't what Mom and Dad have, LOL. To posters who question the use of technology with toddlers - welcome to the world. Not sure what rock you've been hanging out underneath, but there is a wealth of fantastic education available at the fingertips these days, and yes, kids know how to use it (better than most adults!) These things make it possible to bring a library of books with us on a road trip - since when is reading bad for kids? (ANd no ripped pages either!) The math, puzzles & logic, and language skill tools that are out there are incredible. Funny how whenever someone posts anything about techno stuff for a toddler, people are quick to accuse that the child is going to be fat and lazy. I don't see anyone posting on threads to parents who are asking what the best swingset is, or soccer shoes, or bicycle, "Your kid is going to grow up technologically challenged if you don't haul him inside once in a while to get an education..." It is wholly possible to be both physically and mentally "fit" ; one shouldn't assume that one is gained at the detriment to the other.

Thank you, I just pruchased a gumdrop case. My 2 year old carried my kindle and dripped and broke the screen. This can happen again, this time the kindle is protected!

that is great logic that's why when I bought my wife a fire I bought our son a Leapster leap pad... well who knew, apparently a 2 year old can really multitask, he can play a game on his leapster explorer, leappad, my wifes fire and run laps around the coffee table between rounds. during this time I am on the couch with my eyes closed trying to block the oncoming tension headache. But good luck, YMMV :)
