Both books I've bought in the past week are returnable.

I think I've returned 3-4 in a little over 3 years. One was for horrible formatting, one I think I had read already.

I checked it this morning. The two books I bought a couple of days ago still show that option. I've had Kindles since the K1, and have returned a total of two books.................

There would be no reason to return a free book. If you don't want it anymore, delete it. But there is nothing to refund.

I can't check as I haven't bought a book within the time frame. If it's a KDP or free book I don't think that option is offered?

But I agree with Winter Mooncat. I have seen people basically almost brag in various threads about returning books.

So, it appears the option is no longer available only to those who Amazon feels have abused the return policy. Which is exactly as it should be, and should have been. Amazon has been overly trusting for too long on this, IMO. I'm glad the policy has changed :-)

I still have that function, but there has been some discussion elsewhere on the internet about it.

I've read that Amazon has blocked that ability for some people who have been returning many books as some people have been abusing the easy return link in order to buy books, read them, and then return them. Or buy, strip DRM, keep a copy and then get their money back. Not saying that you are doing any of that, but some people have.

I have only returned one book in almost 5 years. I hit buy instead of sample from my computer. I think that if I were Amazon and some people were returning far more than the average, I would want to stop that as well.

It is my understanding that if that has been blocked that you can still return books but must go through Kindle CS to do so. That was the way it was before, so it is just a step back to an earlier time for some.

Have you returned several e-books in a short time, perhaps? Amazon is cracking down on "serial" returners. Not implying that you are one, but I think you need to call CS.

My Return for Refund option is still there as well.

I just returned a book that turned out to be a duplicate of a book I already owned.

You have 7 days from the purchase date to return a ebook.

If you have returned a lot of ebooks then Amazon may have blocked you from returning anymore for excessive returns.

Call Kindle Customer Service and see what they say.

Out of curiosity, why are you returning the book?

Elizabeth, from other posts we're seeing on the forums, it seems possible that Amazon is blocking that option for some users. Have you returned any books lately?

I purchased an ebook on 1/13 - today is 1/16 and when I tried to return it, the option doesn't exist. Did Amazon change their 3-5 day ebook return policy this year? If so, shouldn't that notice have been prominently noted somewhere? On the help topics it indicates there is 7 days to return a book. Makes me want to cease purchasing books for a while as the information I get says one thing but my kindle management tools says something else and it's costing me money

Addition...thanks for your responses. I have returned books in the past but in aggregate have bought alot of books. I took your advice and wrote to Amazon CS.....thanks.

One final addition...thanks again to all of you who provided me with constructive responses. Have heard from Amazon CS who is working with me on returns. Just for clarification...not bragging about returns. Buy alot of ebooks from Amazon. Happy reading!
