Know can I get the app

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 29, 2015 12:00:19 PM PDT
If your Kindle is a Fire, you can get an app that will allow you to read your Kobo books. If it's an e-ink (basic $79 model, a PaperWhite or a Voyage), you cannot read Kobo books on it.

You are replying to a post that's over three years old.

If you deleted from the device then there not deleted from your account. If you really need to I would suggest you log on to your account from a computer. You should be able to see all your books from there. I think it is possible to send them to your device like with Kindle. (I believe that I deleted a book once and wanted it back so I tried to re-buy it and it gave it back to me. All I know is that I couldn't find it in my library so I looked it up in the store and it gave it to me.) The there thing you should try is to log out of your account from your reader, then try to re-log.

Thanks, should have thought of this. I have a lot of books on Kobo but now live mostly in the Amazon ecosystem. This is the perfect solution for me, as I really do not like the 'side loading' solution. Smart Idea!!

I don't know which old post you're replying to (that's why you should use the "reply to" button), but you can't use calibra to convert books with DRM, and most books do.

Try Calibra and convert your books over. It changes the format for you

Kalani, they are going to someplace like

downloading the .apk and installing it on the Fire.

I just got the Kindle Fire HDX and there's no Kobo app so I got the Overdrive app. Then went on the Silk browser to my Kobo library. Downloaded my books to Overdrive and read them there. I haven't tried with Nook but I'll assume it would work with Nookbooks too.

B. Marks says:
First thing to do is go into settings on your Fire and find the setting that allows it to install 3rd party apps. I forget the exact phrasing but that's basically what it says. Set that. When you do it will give you a warning that 3rd party apps can be risky but that's only true if you're careless about where you get 3rd party apps.

Then use your Fire's browser to go to b&n.com and find their Android app and download it to the Fire.

You'll need to have a file manager on the Fire. I use ES File Explorer which is free at Amazon. Use it to navigate to your Download folder and find the Nook app and tap it and when it offers to install it say okay.

It'll install and it should work perfectly. I've used it a few times on my Fire HD.

You can also install a Kobo app the same way, I'm told. I haven't tried that but I've heard that it works.

I realize that for non-techies this sounds like a complex process but it really is very simple to do. Just go step by step and it should work fine.

It's also perfectly safe. The risk comes in if you browse to other sites you can't trust as well and get apps. It's best to only do this with apps you can trust from sites you can trust.

How did you do that? I can't find the app
Not sure how the Amazon kindle fire HD works since I just got it

Stripping DRM is a felony. You have no "fair use rights" because you do not own any Kindle book. All you buy is a license to read it.

This didn't work for me. I have so many books on kobo, I want to move them to my kindle fire hd. A few months ago a friend helped me get my fifty shades of gray from kobo to kindle. But I can't remember what we did. and I tried the above link to business insider and that doesn't work. any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Resurrecting a thread again... Any knowledge as to whether a program like Calibre can allow you to use Kobo books with a kindle? Edit: I have the Kindle Keyboard... Not a fire.

Bixillarla says:
It will never download from Google Play to your Fire. The Fire does not have access to the Google Play Store. You will have to get the app from another source.
