OK - here is the silver thingy one (sorry got caught up this weekend and didnt see your request Pamela!

My Marvelous Little K1 (sung to My Marvelous Little Toy)

When I was just a wee little one,
Full of health and fun,
One Christmas morning I received
A marvelous little K1
A wonder to behold it was
square and sort of white,
And the moment I turned it on
It became my heart's delight.
The silver thingy went up and down when it moved,
twirled when it stopped,
winked when it stood still.
I never knew just what it was for
And I guess I never will.

The first time that I picked it up
I had a big surprise.
For right on each side
There were two big buttons
That looked like Jeff Bezos' eyes
I first pushed one
And then the other
And then I pushed on the scroll wheel.
And when I sat it down again
This is what it did,
The silver thingy went up and down when it moved,
twirled when it stopped,
winked when it stood still.
I never knew just what it was for
And I guess I never will.

A page flipped forward.
Then flipped back
And then it froze on me
And when I looked at the silver thingy
It wasn't even there.
I started to cry.
My partner laughed.
She knew that I would find
a little poke in the reset hole
would make everything just fine

The silver thingy went up and down when it moved,
twirled when it stopped,
winked when it stood still.
I never knew just what it was for
And I guess I never will.

Well, the years have passed by in fun
and I have a K2,
I have my own little boy.
And yesterday I gave to him
My marvelous little K1.
His eyes nearly popped
right out of his head.
He gave a squeal of glee
Neither one of us knows just what the silver thingy is for,
But he loves it just like me.

The silver thingy went up and down when it moved,
twirled when it stopped,
winked when it stood still.
I never knew just what it was for
And I guess I never will.

You're welcome, malay<3sia. So good to see you!

It truly is bittersweet and I agree wholeheartedly. He was quite a man. Would have loved to meet him, say hello, and share a beer. That would have been an amazing conversation, I'm sure.

Hi, flipoid! I love my students, but the job is hard. Life is interesting, but busy. I'm ready for a break!

How are things going for you?

*waving*. Hi, malay<3sia! Last I remember, you were starting a new job--how is that going?

I really miss KK and others, too.

Pamela, thanks so much for the bittersweet reminder. The Kindle boards are a sadder, lonelier place without dog, a true gentleman and scholar.

It's good to see so many Kindle friends still around. I miss our camaraderie.

dog was one of a kind! Glad you remember him. You should've posted in. It was a rare time in this forum. He and KK kept us rocking!

My way around that, because I have the same issue here, is to do everything before I leave. Less convenient that way, but once they went to AT&T for 3G I didn't want to subsidize them in any way (long history of disliking AT&T). Now I'm fine without it and just make sure I'm loaded up or that my phone has connection sharing.

Once I got an Android smartphone it changed a lot of how I use my Kindle. I do take my Kindle out, but use my phone's connection or have it ready to go with the books I want. My situation is quite different than yours and I can understand the need for the 3G. If I could have it, I would. I'm just not willing to pay the premium for it.

I don't see it either and I think it's because I used it. Maybe it's only for one device, period. I've never bought a Fire and this is the only Kindle I've purchased since clicking it so very long ago (this year/last year, who knows?).

Yeah, for me if we travel and the wi-fi is wonky or not available, or especially if we are in the car and I want to download a new book from the cloud, I must have 3G. I don't have it on my Fires or my iPad, but it is a must on my Kindle.

Good, I'm glad I'm not the only one not seeing the button.

I bought 3G for my first 2 or 3 devices and then realized that the way I use my Kindles doesn't require the 3G, but my circumstances are very different. I looked at the 3G option but the pricing just wasn't reasonable for me, even with the deferral (I forgot I even had it). I'm admittedly just overly frugal for a lot of reasons...

I checked the link flipoid (HI Flipoid!) posted, and it says to click the button below to get the payment options, and I cannot find a button below? LOL

In reply to an earlier post on Sep 19, 2014 11:39:20 AM PDT
flipoid says:
Yeah, but it's $269! Because I MUST have the 3G. Too many places around here where I can't get wi-fi.

Pamela says:
LOL Yeah. It's the buttons... I need them. LOL You should ask. I bet they help you out somehow. They're so good.

In reply to an earlier post on Sep 19, 2014 11:36:45 AM PDT
flipoid says:
Yeah, I could ask them. I might. Depends on if I decide I really *need* the page turn "buttons." (-;

Weird. You could ask CS, but then you know that.

No fair! You made me cry. :( I still miss dog. Please post the K1 silver thingy one? It's a fav.

No, it doesn't let me use it for ANY Kindle at all. It tells me, when I go to http://amazon.com/kindleinstallments that I am just not eligible for the offer.

I even tried on my other account. I get the page there that tells me about the installment plan, but it says to click the "Apply Now" button below, and that "Apply Now" button isn't there.

Oh, well.

One of my favorite threads of his was when he did all the songs about kindle. I had this one and another about the K1 silver thingy saved:

My Kindle to You (Sung to the beatles' From me to you)

I got every kindle you could need
I got whispernet at top speed
So take it from me and start to read
My kindles are just for you

I got ebooks that will scare you
And keep you up all night
I got ebooks that will please you
And make everything all right. oooh.

I got every kindle you could need
I got whispernet at top speed
So take it from me and start to read
My kindles are just for you

I got ebooks that long to teach you
And ever expand your mind.
I got ebooks that long to surprise you
With everything you find, oooh.

I got every kindle you could need
I got whispernet at top speed
So take it from me and start to read
My kindles are just for you

Cheers dog! Thanks for making my first couple years of internet forums the fun and education they should be!

It's only for one of each device - Kindle and Fire - but not varieties. Since you got the PW you are still eligible to use it for a Fire, but not the KV.

ETA - or should still be eligible for the Fire.

I was eligible for offers for both my HDX last December and the Paperwhite in the spring. Don't know why that wouldn't make me eligible now. They can see that I haven't defaulted on any of the payments.

Pamela says:
Did you use the deferral when you bought your PW2. I think that's when I clicked it - sometime last year.
