kindle 2 hard reset

Lesley, which Kindle do you have? If it's an e-ink Kindle, you can try a hard reset by holding the power slider for 30 seconds. If that doesn't help, your screen is permanently broken. Call Kindle Customer Service... if the Kindle is still under warrantee, you can get a free replacement. If not, they'll still give you a small discount on a new one.

First, go to your Manage My Kindle page on Amazon and unregister the Kindle 2 from your account. Use the list on the left that lists Manage my Devices. Find the listing for that Kindle and on the far right it will say deregister. That should change the information on the actual Kindle. Check the actual Kindle to make sure you haven't listed your name and info anywhere else. When I give my Kindles away I just leave the books on it. The new owner will be able to read them if they wish. If you don't want the person to see which books you have, then delete them.
