Please tell me if every book you download to your kindle fire hd is capable of listening in whispersync? I have bought and listened to several books like this but the last one I bought did not give me the option.

Ha! It's August of 2014 and I STILL have to manually synch iPad, iPhone, and PC Kindle pages! It's a conspiracy no doubt!

Wait. It is possible the problem is not you. The problem could be on Audible's back end system. It was for me. "The Farseer: Assassin's Apprentice" would not sync using any known techniques (all described in this thread. Note: other books were syncing. I called Audible who forwarded the case to an account specialist who deals with Immersion Reading/Whispersync for Voice bugs.

His reply, "... issues with "The Farseer: Assassin's Apprentice". We have gone ahead and fixed this issue on our end (there was an issue on the back end that was causing the title not to be paired in the system) so you should be able to use the Whispersync for Voice feature between your devices. Please delete both the Kindle eBook and Audible audio book and re-download them and try the sync again."

So sometimes we users are not crazy. It is the ghost in the machine that haunts us. Call Audible. Great folks.

I have found that removing the device from the account, delete the app and then install all over again fixed the ipad synching problem. Hasn't happened since, fingers crossed!

This doesn't work for me either. My iPad and iPhone don't sync to each other. They both just only keep the progress of the books downloaded to them individually. It used to work but hasn't for some time now. Are others still having this issue also?

I noticed that my iPhone synced with my wife's iPad mini but not with my iPad. I looked into "Managed your devices" and found that my iPad was listed twice. I deregistered my "superfluous" iPad and now everything is ok.
How did I manage to have to same iPads registered? I guess that when I bought the iPad mini I started to use it. Later I exchanged the mini with the iPad doing a backup and restore

My wife has the Kindle Fire (1st Gen) and just got an iPhone 5. I installed the Kindle app and had no problems syncing it with her Amazon ID. However she was complaining about the syncing. Apparently I also had to go into her Manage My Kindle page, to to Manage Devices and make sure that Whispersync was turned ON. Now she has no problems syncing to last page read without doing anything when she stops reading - aside from making sure that the Kindle Fire is receiving a wifi signal. Hope this helps.

Anyone from Amazon? Doesn't the fact so many Kindle owners are having the same problem bother you? At least from the product side?
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't remember reading about a sync at the end being necessary? As usual Apple's products just sync without any intervention.

I have 3 Kindle devices or with Kindle on them: an iPad3, an Apple iPhone 3gs and an Older Kindle device whose designation/name I don't even remember. Syncing across devices devices does not work; I have to find the location on the device last used and then add the location to the device I now want to use. If I just try to sync on the latest device it always says I am at the furthest place on all devices which is of course wrong. I always update so I have the latest version of Kindle on each device. In reading this forum it looks like many folks also have this problem yet I can see no real help (just some telling us to restart the device or to update to the latest version) and NO INFORMATION or even a "screw you" from Amazon. I've tried everything I can think of. Amazon, how about addressing this with your customers?

Thank you so much for posting! Could not figure out how to get Kindle and iPad to sync to the same page. Solution was so simple.

Sigh.

I just did it to the iPad that was not synching to the other devices. Deregistered and then deleted the app. Installed the app and registered. Everything good.

Had same problem -- finally tech support said to
Deregister each kindle app on both devices
Delete each app from both devices
Reinstall each app on both devices.
Worked like a dream!

I was having problems syncing my highlights from the iPad to the Amazon website. I had 61 highlights on the iPad and I only had 5 on the "Your Highlights" webpage. Ended up that because I share my account with my husband we had Wispersync turned off under "Manage My Devices". So be sure you have that turned on.

Actually, my issue was with buying kindle books to use with iPad and IPhone. I have now switched to buying only ebooks now. I really do prefer the Kindle app but Amazon does not seem be able to make it work with Apple products. There is not any reason to use Kindle app or books if it doesn't work
Amazon is losing a bunch of book sales as most won't go back.

Also having the same problem with books syncing in just one direction. In my case the iphone does get the lastest page, but the kindle paperwhite does not. For anyone who's thinking about jumping ship to B&N Nook, don't bother. their help board is also jammed with pleas from customers with sync issues. It doesn't seem like this should be so hard.

I too have stopped buying ebooks from Amazon, as syncing between my devices has still not been resolved. iBooks syncs perfectly between my ipads/iphone and I also like the fact that their format tells you how many pages one has left in a chapter - this feature I find extremely handy.

I have now been using iBooks in place of the Kindle books and can report that they sync perfectly across the devices.
Also, the kindle app would not even return to last page read when returning on iPad and it was necessary to jump thru hoops each time to resume reading. No problem with iBooks.
Amazon really has to get this solved. I am not the only one jumping ship.
I would have never even looked at iBooks without being forced into it.

I have decided to quit buying kindle books for use on iPad and iPhone. I have now been buying iBooks and avoid the kindle sync problems. This annoying problem by Amazon may lose them a lot of sales
No reason to buy a kindle book for an iPad. Shame because I have been buying weekly books from Amazon for years. Bummer...but obviously Amazon can't fix.

Just go to your Kindle 2 and sync it up. This thread is about how to synch up the iPad reading location to the Kindle 2 or 3. The other way works great.
