Katinka says:
You can try plugging it into your computer for at least 24 hours. Sometimes that will kickstart a seemingly dead or near dead battery.

Won't recharge, is this grounds for disposal, or is there a fix?

I have a Kindle Touch - Model no: D01200 which I cannot turn on. The 30 second reboot worked twice, but now it does nothing.

Any advice on a full reboot would be appreciated.

I think there is a problem with the Home button . It doesn't respond.
I have tried rebooting and still cannot get to the home menu?

See the post above yours, Helen? Try that.

ETA: on review, that post is not particularly clear. Hold your power button in for a full 30 seconds and reboot your device.

I know this post is two years old, but someone else MAY read it... it's a 30 second reset hold.. you need to count it. Worked for me.

Not sure if this helps anyone but I purchased a Kindle model d01200 for my mother as a Christmas gift. I even purchased a few books and games.Recently she has had similar problems as you guys. I brought it home, did the factory reset, the 30 second restart, and refreshed my Amazon account. Then I just turned on wi fi and it started downloading all kinds of new updates. Long story short, my mom doesn't have internet so she couldn't receive any updates.I downloadedher a few more books and games.Shes happy now! Hope this helps someone.

How do I start a book over if I have read 25% of it & don't want to reverse page by page? I have a G3D01200. Laurie

Tim W. says:
The passcode for the lock screen? Give it a wrong code a few times and it will give you the option to restore to factory conditions. I don't think you have another option.

How do I reset the password on my kindle fire?

You could try replacing the screen. I don't know what d01200 is but you can look through this list.

You probably have to replace it. Contact Kindle customer service to troubleshoot. Start with the help link at the top of the page.

You control the brightness the same way you do with a book. :-)

Thank you for this information, it was driving us mad trying to find a solution to this as we thought surely you must be able to control the brightness of the screen in tho day and age!

Kindle touch doesn't have any kind of lighting, so no.

Mary McManus says:
I would try a simple reset of holding down the power button for 20 seconds and then releasing. Wait for it to cycle through everything and display the home page before touching it. The factory defaults would be a last resort.
